Catching Dustbringer

• Notes: Exceptionally rare catch, possibly from any water or pool in Northrend, including Dalaran. So far reported to have been caught from open inland water in Howling Fjord, Dragonblight, Crystalsong Forest, Dalaran Underbelly, Borean Man O' War School, Glassfin Minnow School, Musselback Sculpin School, and Nettlefish School (thanks Mitzy, saxokid, Sydien, and others). If you catch it, please let us know where.
• Commentary: This may be the closest anglers get to actually catching the famous Ashbringer (see Valuable Gear). Perhaps Nat Pagle got confused? He does drink rather a lot.

   I just fished up a Level 78 Dagger from a Borean School south of Garrosh's Landing.

   Its called Dustbringer..

   Cant find the dagger on wowhead. :)

   Just logon to WoW as usual, bring up your inventory screen and hover over your new dagger. When you see the tooltip, press the "Prt Scr" button on your keyboard. It should be a little on your uppe left side of the numpad (atleast on a european keyboard).
   You should now see a text in the center of your screen, saying Screenshot saved. You can find this screenshot in a folder in your wow directory on your harddrive, probably C:/Program Files/World of Warcraft. When you've located your screenshot you can upload if from a free picture uploading site, such as http://imageshack.us/

   When you've uploaded the file, simply copy the URL and post it here :)

   Thanks for everything so far. I'm still looking for more information about Dustbringer.

   We know it can be fished, but does it also drop from mobs or boxes? Or, is it only gained from fishing?

   The 2 locations we have so far (Borean School in Borean and open inland water (I presume) in Howling Fjord) suggest it can be gained from any water in Northrend.

   I fished this up in Crystalsong. No one else on my server (Bloodhoof) seems to have seen it. It's kind of neat, I chuckled when I read the flavor text.

    I also just fished one up in Dalaran in the underbelly. I had a friend fish one up 2 days ago in Dragonblight. Both were in open water.

    We both were at max fishing skill when we fished it up.

    Actually I was looking for the last missing Achievement to become salty. ;-) Got it after about 120 catches, 485 fishing, no lures.

    I just fished this up from a School of Imperial Manta Ray in Grizzly Hills! I'm still not sure what to do with it.

    It would seem to be an extremely rare item, and I wonder how much people would be willing to pay for it as a novelty item. I was never able to sell my Dark Herring, so yeah...

   Just fished myself up the Dustbringer in grizzly hills and figured i would share the info.

   The exact pool location is 35.2, 42.6 It took me a estimate of 2000 casts to get this, i got it randomly while farming my Sea turtle (still no luck on the turtle).

   Here is a picture of it in my inventory (I won't dare equip it, this thing is gonna sell for alot!)

   When looting the dustbringer there is no confirmation window (obviously because its boe)

   In the Loot window there was also a pygmy suckerfish with it.

   I also fished this up from a pool of nettlefish a few days ago....with the increased fishing going on because of the mount, nows the time to go snag this!

   Previous posts have caught this everywhere from the sewers in dalaran (going for the rat) to various pools in northrend.

   I also just fished up the Dustbringer, but from a pool in Dragonblight (Dragonfin Angelfish) in Lake Indul'le.

   I thought I saw something strange pop up with the fish, and that was it. Of course I was fishing for a turtle, still. But the really funny thing (to me) is that I was contemplating hunting the Darkwood fishing pole, just to search for something else other than this stupid turtle that I want so badly.

   In any case, no one in my guild understood how funny it was. Sigh.

   Any confirmed screenshots of this? Would rather someone from this site give me confirmation, I trust you. I've thrown down about 4k casts in Howling Fjord (Winter's Breath Lake - Open Water) and nothing. But hey if I put 6k into the crushfish....I wont stop anytime soon.....stats will be posted upon catch.

   ah ty ty I thought I remembered seeing a screenshot but couldnt find thread. got any suggestions? I'm trying to get accurate stats from one area and bonescale snappers provide the perfect money maker to non-pool fishing. Its still fairly early I suppose, but after this many casts in Howling Fjord, I've caught one Dark HErring.....in a pool......so im thinking if I hit 10k, im going pool crazy.

Dark Herring and DustBringer Info....

   I have been non-stop hunting these two fish, as I have a Strictly Fishing guild/toon. It would be awesome to have both of these as my main weapons on this toon to promote fishing along with my guild. Have mad atleast 3500 casts on un-named Howling Fjord coastline, along with fishing Fangtooth pools (1500 cast minimum) Me nor my Fishing Officer have had ANY luck catching these ulta-rare fish.

   *Does Auto-Loot work to catch the guys or do you need to click em?
   * Any Advice Please Share...(im desperate)
   * Where/When/What did you catch him with? (co-ords would be amazing)
   *Is there anything that will help increase odds?
   * Any and All Advise would me Greatly Appreciated, even willing to pay if on my realm! (yes folks, Im that desperate) 0.o
