This page shows where to find Golden Carp School, and what fish can be caught.
Golden Carp School Catches
- Commentary: Looking for Golden Carp? They can be caught from any open water in Pandaria. The best catch rate is from (non-Sha) inland open water in Kun-Lai Summit and The Veiled Stair at 80%: Almost as good as a pool. Since Patch 5.2, excess Golden Carp are caught from open water in Pandaria when your fishing skill is too low (instead of junk). This means that at low skill, almost every cast into open water will catch a Golden Carp. For full details, see Golden Carp.
- History: Mists of Pandaria: Briefly seen along the coast of The Jade Forest, apparently since removed.

MoP Beta [15781] New Fish & Pools Added
Druidmoon, June 2012:
As of beta patch [15781] today, there are now new pools introduced into Pandaria within The Jade Forest zone which can be seen from neighbouring zones.
The new pools I have seen so far include:
The Jade Forest - Coastal
- Golden Carp School
- Reef Octopus Swarm
- Giant Mantis Shrimp Swarm
The Jade Forest - Inland
- Jade Lungfish School
- Redbelly Mandarin School
Currently it is not easy to fish to most pools but some are possible (cross zone).
Image of the New Fishing Pools in The Jade Forest, Pandaria
The correct fish type appear to be in Jade Lungfish and Redbelly Mandarin pools but Golden Carp School seemed to have Jade Lungfish only. So far it is 100% catches of the pool fish type (except GCS as mentioned)
EDIT: I was also able to fish a Reef Octopus Swarm and can confirm that it is 100% Reef Octopus.
Short MP4 movie showing first catch of Reef Octopus from a Reef Octopus Swarm. (apologies for size/quality. My upload rate is minuscule)
EDIT: Same for the remaining coastal water pool, Giant Mantis Shrimp Swarm which has 100% Giant Mantis Shrimp catch rate.
It is an area under work and closed generally so not complete and the correct fish added at some future patch.
The type of Coastal to Inland fish pools seems to follow the species breakdown I posted a while back except Golden Carp which appear in both Inland and Coastal at present. Note the name 'swarm' for coastal pools as in Azeroth.
The pools are numerous but that may just be the fact they show all node spawns and these will be randomised for live (similar to herb and mining nodes at present)
Notes:
I was surprised to see Golden Carp Schools as they are the generic common catch. Perhaps they are a placeholder for another type of fish which does seem to be missing to balance species?
Not possible to fish other types of coastal pools so far.
Druidmoon, June 2012:
Updated post to add that I was also able to fish a Reef Octopus Swarm and can confirm that it is 100% Reef Octopus.
Druidmoon, June 2012:
Now updated for the final remaining coastal water pool, Giant Mantis Shrimp Swarm which has 100% Giant Mantis Shrimp catch rate.
