Ironforge
Detailed mapping of hard to find areas within the zone is shown below.
Notes: Fish can be caught from the ponds in the Mystic Ward and the Forlorn Caverns. It is also possible to fish in the Great Forge, in the centre of Ironforge (thanks Will, and others). There are small gaps next to the large wheels in the centre of the forge, where anglers can cast a line... into the lava, and still catch freshwater fish! Ironforge is the only place to catch the rare Old Ironjaw.

Topic: Baby Crocolisk Daily - Not restricted to SW
By Cornuthaum, on 15 April 2008:
It is apparently possible to catch the Baby Crocolisk from The Forlorn Cavern in Ironforge.
I was bored (4am and I couldn't sleep), so I decided to go level the fishing skill of my Hunter some more (who, through luck and divine providence had gotten my 2nd Weather-Beaten Fishing Hat from the Crocolisk daily quest a week before).
To my surprise, the first catch I made in the Forlorn Cavern turned out to be the baby crocolisk, me not being aware that I had actually accepted the quest two days ago with my Hunter (but forgot to do it, thanks to frustration overwhelming me).
However, I am aware of the old adage 'Screen or it didn't happen!'.

http://img236.imageshack.us/img236/8402/ifcrocolisksmallur8.jpg - just the chatlog.
Question: The question is whether all racial capitols are viable places to go croc'ing to (provided, of course, that they have fisheable plots of water) or not.
I apologize beforehands should this information have come up earlier, but alas, it's 04.41 and I think my brain is currently oozing out of my left ear.
edit: As luck would have it, the daily quest reset brought about another round of Baby Crocolisk anglin', and since I follow the school of 'I do it because I can', I went and tested if I could catch it from Ironforge once more.
And yes, I could

By el, on 15 April 2008:
That's new to me. Thank you.
The question of whether it can be found in other capitals is indeed an important one. And if it can be found in all capitals (at least those with fishable water), where else does it appear?
By Calabar, on 15 April 2008:
I got the Crocs in the City quest today, so I decided to test this out. I grabbed the quest with my druid and headed over to Darnassus. He still needs some fishing skill, so I figured this was a good chance for him to get in some practice.
Shadowfang pulled in 75 successful catches within Darnassus without a baby croc showing its sharp little teeth. I then headed over to Stormwind and caught my baby croc on the third cast. So whatever this glitch is, Darnassus does not seem to be a part of it.
By Balazar, on 16 April 2008:
I'm not quite sure I'd count it out just yet - I've gone more than 150 catches in Stormwind before pulling the croc.
By Gwydaine, on 17 April 2008:
Well I have 2 375 fishing nuts and did the quests on both one morning. then I thought I would try something. I got on my 70 Pally with fishing skill of only 157 got the quest and went to SW. I was surprised I could complete it on him as well. Of course this got me me started and now I have 2 fishing fools at 375 and one at 353 and getting closer to max

Topic: Old Ironjaw, A Living Legend
By Slavaa, on 10 May 2008:
I hope you like this story on the origins of Old Ironjaw, and Slavaa's mad anglin' skills
Well, after finding, anglin' and catching Old Ironjaw, I downed a few celeberatory beersh *hic*, but you may be wondering: how did I come to get in there, well, it's a story that needs to be told, so tell I shall.
There I was, standing in the orcish city of Orgrimmar one day, thinking “Well, I’ve helped Old man Barlo, the Shattered Sun Offensive, The Scyers, and the Frostwolves today, killed all sorts of monsters and humans alike, what else is there to do?”so I found myself walking, blinking and teleporting toward the tavern, where there are always adventures to be found.
Fully expecting to hear of monsters raising the countryside, demons killing the soldiers, and Alliance plans of attack, I entered the Tavern.
I, Slavaa of the Shattered Sun, am very welcome anywhere I go, despite the fact I am living impaired, so I walk up to the barkeep and ask “Are there any new tales being told, and may I have pint to whet my rotting whistle?” “Of course there are Slavaa, but first, and how will you be paying today?” Fulling knowing what these people want I respond “In large amounts, Beer Is On The House!” Which met a resounding cheer from the rest of the bar. “So, of those tales of which you spoke, which is the most heroic and dangerous?” The bartender then spoke to me, of a tale, of a journey, of a legend unlike any of which I had previously heard, this was not one of sword, shield or spell, not primarily anyway, it was of a fish. A fish they call “Old Ironjaw”.
“Old Ironjaw was born in Stillwater lake in Tirisfal Glades on the continent of Lordaeron, and there he lived for many decades. Until one day, when the Plague struck. A Dwarf, of Blump family descent, who was staying in the area decided to catch one of his final fish, as even in the air he could feel the horrors of the Plague seeking him, he caught one fish. The fish’s jaw was huge and muscular, as tough as iron, and when this dwarf saw that fish, which he named Ironjaw, it gave him the tenacity to carry on.
Through Trisifal he ran, through Silverpine and through Hillsbrad, through Arathi and the Wetlands, and through Loch Modan, and after the days he spent running, spanning two continents and many territories, he finally arrived at Ironforge in Dun Morogh, he said “I must sho’ this fish ta’ me family in te’ Forlorn Caverns, they’ll be so proud’a me. It’ll be our pride for generations ta’ come.”
The Blump family was elated to see this fish, it’s massive jaw and power would one day become a family crest. “An’ you lil’ Gubba, I want ye ta’ ‘ave me fishing pole, with which I caught dis’ mighty fish. I hope it gives ye’ good luck.”
Now of course this fish was an amazing sight, and even though the only time it hit water since it’s catch was the precipitation of the wedlands it was still breathing, the family decided to release it into the pool across from their house, they carved a notch in the Blump Family Fishing Pole for each time it was caught and released again by them, after a rather long time of fishing (their hobby is fishing) only three times was he caught again.
The family no long remains in Ironforge, but their fish does. And he has taken quite a liking to the area.”
“Wow” I respond, intrigued. The bartender went on to say that no one allied with orcs had ever laid eyes upon this fish, and from the military precision and defenses of Ironforge makes it seem as if none ever will.I am not the type to back down from a challenge, doctor says “Slavaa, I would advise against you seeing your girlfriend again, she ... she has the Undead Plague.” I respond “That sounds like a challenge!” and rush in, but that’s another story for another time. This challenge was unlike any I had ever faced, if I attracted too much attention the army could be called in, and then that would be the end of me. Nonetheless, I back down from no challenge. Ever. Quickly pulling out my map, I deduce the quickest path would be from the Kargath going North, and so I set out.
With a few words of power, a colossal quantity of concentration and a *pop* I arrive in the Undercity and ride my undead horse the taxi wyvern service with my favourite book: “The Bass and You” reading up the best fish catching stratagems.
A few chapters later I find myself in a barren wasteland, which is why I brought my map.
My horse needs no food or rest, it being undead like myself, and therefore I make record time to fifty foot gates of this ultra fortified city. Ironforge.
The first bit goes rather easily, all the busy bodies go about trading and banking. They don’t even notice me under my heavy robe. I even make my way past a few of the drunker guards. Unfortunatly they sobered up by the time I passed the Mystic Ward, and being extremely well trained, they saw through my clever disguise. This when badly from here, luckily none of the experienced adventurers make their way down here, so the two guards were quickly disposed of and hid under a nearby fruit stand (that gnome’s in for a surprise).
Using my stealth skill learned from my thieving friend Croaker, I made my way to the Forlorn Cavern, I could nearly smell the massively jawed aquatic creature, he is in for a wake up call.
Much to my dismay, the hydrated area of the cavern is very near to the urban area, all those angry residents would tear me limb from limb. In blind hope I search my pack for something that would help in this situation, and I just happen to find 2 potions of water walking I received from Old man Barlo after I helped him catch the fish that was stealing his bait.
17 minutes later, my fishing rod is bending, the line is stretching (I recently replaced it with a spun Truesilver line) and all I’ve pulled up have been Mudsnappers and Smallfish. 19 minutes, still no Ironjaw, and I can feel my feet slipping through the water as the last potion wears off. My feet have almost fallen through, I only have time to catch one last fish. I can only hope. One foot’s fallen through, but this fish is fighting long and hard. If I fall in the water all hope is lost, but this fish is almost here. I pull it up just as I fall under, I see it. But it’s just an inch too far away, conjuring my arcane powers I hit it with a Slow, it’s not going anywhere.
But just as I believe it shall be mine, the splashing alerts the guards. It’s no use having a prized fish if it must be buried with me. I must cast like I have never cast before. Thinking quickly I begin to cast a teleport spell to the Undercity, but I combine it with my knowledge of area of effect spells... 5... 4... 3... 2... *pop*
*Sploosh* And with a square decaliter of water and a few flopping fish I successfully teleport to the Undercity, among the fish: Old Ironjaw. This legend of anglin’ history is now mine. Only now do I remember, I wanted to go to Orgrimmar...
I told you I'd make a Lore/Roleplaying Story of my Old Ironjaw catch
Tell me if you like it/think it's just a wall of text
By Yohaun, on 12 May 2008:
I like it! I need to catch Ironjaw myself so thanks for the "tips" ;)

Topic: Old Ironjaw, The Fishing Diplomat, and the Horde
By donquixote235, on 24 October 2008:
Yesterday I found myself near Elwynn Forest, so I thought it would be a good time to pick up the Stormwind half of the Fishing Diplomat achievement.
I've found that ever since they changed the entry guards to be lvl 75 rather than 65, sneaking in through the front door is a no-no; even with +stealth trinkets working overtime, they see right through it. My Vanish only has about a 50% chance of getting them off my back. Instead I've discovered that the best way to get into Stormwind is to come the back way through the new harbor around back. You can swim there from the Westfall/Elwynn border, and the guards are all lvl 65. Keep in mind that fishing from Stormwind Harbor does NOT count toward your Fishing Diplomat achievement; you have to apparently fish from inside the city walls for the achievement to take.
I was able to stealth to the canals without much problem and grab my single catch. Since I was already in SW and the Deeprun Tram was not that far from me, I figured I'd take my chances at Old Ironjaw.
Stealthing to the tram was not a problem; I think there was a single guard I had to avoid on the way. Once I got into the tram I opted to run the rails rather than take the tram, as I was still flagged and I didn't want to draw unnecessary attention to myself.
I came out at Ironforge in Tinkertown, which is very close to the Forelorn Cavern. This was indeed much better than coming through the front door! This way I'd have to deal with at most 5 lvl 75 guards rather than the score or so that I'd have to deal with from the front entry. However 5 guards was about 5 more than I wanted to deal with!
I mounted up and started to make a mad dash toward the cavern. Sure enough, the first pair of guards aggroed me. I then rode straight into the middle of the second pair, and picked up their aggro as well. I was almost to the cavern when they dismounted me, so I dropped a Vanish and prayed. I got the message "Leaving Combat" and breathed a sigh of relief.
About one second later I encountered the fifth guard, whom I had not counted on. This guard pats the wall directly across from the cavern entrance. If I'd stuck to the south wall there's a very good chance I could have avoided him. I knew I was going to die but I figured I'd at least do it in a good position. So I ran for the water and managed to swim about halfway across the pool before I got killed.
After that, it was easy. I did the necessary corpse-run, edged myself against the south wall, did a /sleep command to bring a low profile, and started fishing.
At first I had the place entirely to myself. After a couple of minutes a Human Paladin showed up and I started to get worried; I really didn't want to fight anybody, I just wanted a nice pacifist fishing trip. After a few seconds he waved at me and proceeded to fish by my side. Awesome.
Every couple of minutes another Alliance character would ride by the pool. Most didn't even see me, but some would stop and look at me for a few seconds and then ride on. I only had one character try to pick on me, a Draenei Shaman. My solution to this was to Vanish and then move to another spot. He tried to locate me again but with no luck, and eventually went away. I then unstealthed and proceeded to start fishing again, and the two people who'd showed up there to fish cheered as I reappeared. What a great thing: cameradery between the factions, and all because of fishing!
Finally (after about 150-200 throws) I got my prize - Old Ironjaw. The two other fishermen cheered me again, I took a bow, and I hearthed the heck out of there.
In a nutshell, it's very possible and not that hard, as long as you come in through the back door at Stormwind and take the Deeprun Tram. Most people will ignore you (at least they did me) as long as you stick to fishing and don't try to fight anybody. If you are attacked it may even be best to take the blows and not fight back so that when you return the people who witnessed the battle know that you're not interested in fighting, just fishing.
By Nosajje, on 24 October 2008:
SW Harbor is definitely the way to go when it comes to getting into SW and IF. My wife and I swam through westfall up into the harbor, got our catch for Fishing Diplomat, then ran into stockades to get Bazil kill achievement, then ran out and around through the park/dwarven district etc into town and took tram to IF. The whole time we never saw a single alliance.
By Thander, on 24 October 2008:
I think your mileage may vary quite bit with this one. Running through stormwind to get to the tram without stealth might take awhile especially on a busy server. Then, the allis in Ironforge might not be so nice. Last, you may get unlucky catching Ironjaw and have to do >1000 catches. (increases your chances to get ganked greatly).
By Kattora, on 25 October 2008:
Well I'm glad your time fishing wasn't horrific. But unfortunately, on Malygos, the Alliance forbid me to fish in their little pond. I've tried everything. Funky outfits, not fighting, emoting (/beg, /cower, /hug etc)...they always kill me, over and over. I even went as far as to log onto an alliance character I use for their AH and asked them nicely to let me fish... and I'd get a 'rofl' or a 'lol' and that's about it.
I don't know how I'm gonna get that fish, I'm a shaman, I have to suicide my way there. I die at least 2-3 times from guards before I get to my spot just to die from Alliance. >_<
Sleeping doesn't work, they can easily see you aren't dead. The giant red name above your body is what gives you away. If I could get my name into the wall and then /sleep, I'd be safe... but I can't. Why can't Blizzard place some rocks back there or something? >_< Alliance have several places to hide in Orgrimmar. I've seen them, and each time I do /greet and /cheer and leave them alone.Ironjaw seems so impossible to get. :(
I've got Old Crafty but obviously that is much easier to do as Horde.By Jagent, on 25 October 2008:
Started fishing tonight around 2:30am, just caught Old Ironjaw at about 3:50am
Roughly 325 fish caught before him

Topic: Easiest way for Horde to get Old IronJaw undesturbed
By Gandonar, on 11 November 2008:
Having tried for Old Ironjaw a few times in Forlorn Cavern, but being ganked constantly,
I remembered that Old Ironjaw can be fished in the lava too.So I rode in into the great forge, and dropped down into the lava, knowing i would die.
However there is a hidden ledge between the wall and the rotating wheel, which is easy to find as a ghost. (from memory the coords are (50.4, 47.9 or 50.4, 49.7)
basically when you swim underneath the wheel, you get stuck. thats how you know your at the ledge. now simply jump up on is as ghost, and come back to live. You need to set your camera distance to max. Look at your toon, directly from above, and then tilt you camera, so that the wheel is on you left side, and you can only see lava in your buttom right corner. that way you can just see you lure.
Allies has to be lucky to see you, or know your there. but more importantly the 2 housr i spend there i got spotted twice, and both times the ally died trying to kill me, as they fell in the lava.
I will try to add some screen shots, to this post
Happy Fishing

I tried off and on for Old Iron jaw and finally sat down and fished for him one night for about an hour and nailed him. Very happy camper.
Side note: With the release of LK its going to be a pain in the ass to get into Orgimar to fish for Old Crafty now but, with the quest thats available that makes you non PVP in Orgimar, i'll wait till that point, get the baby crockolisk quest and the other and camp out there till i get him.
Good fishing!

Good fishing! The lava trick does sound interesting and worth a try, Gandonar. Thanks for the info!
BattleMoose (besides loving your name), can you tell me some more specifics about the quest that's available that will make you non-PvP in Orgrimmar? Are you Horde or Alliance? I know as a Horde when I'm in Org after 5 mins my PvP flag wears off (even though I am on a PvP server.)
Did you mean Ironforge? Is there some way as a Horde that I can get into IF via quest where I won't be flagged PvP? This doesn't sound right so I'm assuming I don't quite understand what you mean :)
I do my crocolisk quest for Org as often as possible -- I must have a baby croc!
By Tezuix, on 20 November 2008:
setting your camera view to max is a bad idea... it is MUCH easier to go into first person (zoomed right in) so you can see the lava directly in front of you =) much easier
Happy fishing

I can confirm that this works a treat ^_^ Just make sure you can "reach" your body to ressurect otherwise it's a long run back from your home point.
