Catching Redbelly Mandarin
Commentary:The most efficient way to catch large volumes of Redbelly Mandarin is to wait for it to be Fish of the Day at Fields of Niuzao (Crowded Redbelly Mandarin and Large Pool of Crowded Redbelly Mandarin). Without an active Fish of the Day migration, there is no "good place" to catch these fish - not since the removal of Redbelly Mandarin Schools from The Jade Forest in patch 5.1. Fishing Redbelly Mandarin School should be faster than open water, however pools may be hard to find: Townlong Steppes has very few areas of inland water, so there are few pool spawning locations, and those locations are spread between different parts of the zone. Vale of Eternal Blossoms' Redbelly Mandarin Schools share spawning locations with 2 other pool types, rather than one other type in Townlong Steppes. Due to the way pools spawn, you may need to fish all types of pools found in an area to sustain fishing Redbelly Mandarin Schools.

These have become almost impossible to find with most fishable water gone from the Vale and so little fishable water inTownlong Steppes but I found this morning that the small lake at 35.2,52.8 in Townlong Steppes is become the place. Literally dozens of Crowded Redbelly Mandarin schools and even a Large Pool of Redbelly Mandarin. You can fish as many as you need.

Unfortunately that was due to Red Belly Mandarin being the "fish of the day" (make sure you wave to El!). You will not find such a concentration of pools most days. For more information on the "fish of the day" fish look here: http://www.elsanglin.com/fish_of_day.html
However, I fish for Tiny Red Carp there quite often. Although when going for the carp, I use open water fishing; there are always lots of Red Belly Mandarin pools ready to be fished!

Also while not in pools you can fish them in the Jade Forest at the Arboretum
