This page provides help using the forum. On this page:
HTML
You can use a limited amount of HTML in your posts. The following standard HTML is allowed:
- a - Creates a link to a webpage, for example: <a href="http://www.example.com">Link Text</a>
- blockquote - Quote text, for example: <blockquote>Quote Text</blockquote>
- br - Line break: <br /> - note that manually typed carriage returns (line breaks) are automatically converted to paragraphs.
- code - Code block, for example: <code>Code Text</code>
- em - Italic emphasis, for example: <em>Italic Text</em>
- strong - Bold emphasis, for example: <strong>Bold Text</strong>
Lists can be constructed using ul (bullets) or ol (numbered), along with li to markup individual list items, as shown below:
<li>List item #1</li>
<li>List item #2</li>
</ul>
Fish Markup
Posts at El's Extreme Anglin' forums may include a limited amount of HTML. In addition to the standard code, you may use a sudo-HTML elements, fish. Fish creates a link direct to the Fish Finder entry for the fish name enclosed by the tags.
To create a link to Mr. Pinchy on the Fish Finder, simply enter the code:
The forum includes automatic tooltips for Wowhead links, however you will need to type a standard <a href...> link to the item on Wowhead. (I'd like to create a simple "item" markup, as with fish, but unfortunately Matt Mayers' otherwise excellent script conflicts with BBPress's Ajax code... If you have a solution, let me know.)
Avatars
If you want to display an avatar (image) next to your name on all your posts, you can do so using Gravatars:
- Signup and upload your image at Gravatar.com. The email address used for the Gravatar must be the same email address you registered at the forum with. The avatar must be rated "PG" or lower. After uploading the avatar, remember to select the avatar for use (that doesn't happen automatically, even if you only have one avatar uploaded).
- Edit your profile page, and tick the box "Use Gravatar".
- If successful, you will see the avatar displayed on your (non-edit) profile, and against all your posts.
If you see an image of a fishing pole, something went wrong: Either the email address for the Gravatar does not match the one on the forum, or the image is rated higher than "PG".
Fish Finder Comments
Posts in the Fishing Forum where:
- the title is the name of a fish, or
- the post is tagged with the name of a fish
will also appear on the relevant fish page of the Fish Finder.
