Yep, I did it in 4 casts. Two weeks of reading and prepping, locations mapped, times figured out when to play... costumes, disguises, and potions on hand... empty bags to go...

Sunday night at 1:30ish am (technically monday) Took the front door in, used Orb of Deception on a Brewfest Ram to try to fool people. Guards were more of a pain. A DK and Rogue jumped me almost to the pool/cavern area.

Ran back, watched around my body, coast was clear, ran over to the wall, healed, did a /sleep to test it out, threw out 4 casts and...

http://i42.tinypic.com/21b9j0g.jpg
(excuse guild chat cursing and miscounting, I was freakin out)

Not sure how solid the proof is, but time is shown, my orb of deception cooldown is just barely gone, only 3 fish in pack (you can see my dead skely in distance).

To anyone saying I was lucky, its true, but I also finished my entire fishing achievement tree up that day and got "Salty". I already had the Old Crafty from a few days of fishing a couple weeks earlier, and about 4 days in Mulgore getting a fish for the other rare. The rest just came. Not to mention 2 years of fishing contest to win... luckily I was first on my server after I transferfed from Bloodhoof to Area 52 the week it opened during BC release week.

Now just see me in my full getup sitting in my fishing chair in Dal somtimes. Good times and Good Luck.

Spleen on "Soloing the Lurker"

First, i hope no one has posted this strategy yet. I checked around and didn't see anything like it.

I was able to "solo" the Lurker Achievement on the beta servers. It's not all that hard, it just takes some planning. Here's what you need:

Minimum:
A way to walk on water
A way to avoid falling damage (slow fall, pally bubble, blink, etc.)
300(?) fishing skill

Method 1:
4-9 other players (not sure exactly)

Method 2:
1 other player
some way to kill yourself

The first obstacle is getting past the waterfall entrance. In method 1, the waterfall entrance opens up the way it normally would, by having a minimum number of raid members, which is either a total of 5 or 10 (I forget which).

In method 2, you only need one other player. Invite this person into a raid group, and they're part is done as long as they don't leave the group; they can go and continue to do whatever they want. Now go up to the waterfall and kill yourself. When you run back as a ghost, you will be able to run through the waterfall. Resurrect on the other side, and go in.

One other method is to have another raid group open up the waterfall for you, but you still need at least one other person in order to form a raid group and enter.

Once inside, however you did it, go to the ledge between the second elevator and before the first pull. Activate your water walking. Now jump off the ledge and fall to the water. Activate your method for avoiding fall damage. Now you can walk all the way to the Lurker's pool without any of those nasty fish getting in your way!

Lastly, be sure to remove any gear that you want to avoid taking durability damage. The achievement only requires you to fish him up, but he will instantly aggro you once you do so and very likely kill you.

http://i47.photobucket.com/albums/f165/spleenseer/WoWScrnShot_091208_145320.jpg

You're now one achievement closer to the Salty title!

Deathxtreme on "Mr. Pinchy's Wishes"

I was unable to find a post that collaborated the results of Mr. Pinchy's wishes so I thought I'd start the forum post myself. (There is one post here about what people have gotten from Mr. Pinchy, but it's not useful for getting statistical information about Mr. Pinchy's wishes out of it. There is also a post on Thottbot, but that post is also difficult to read and get statistical information out of) While the possible results of Mr. Pinchy's wishes are well known and documented on this website as well as others, there seems be no information on the statistics (i.e. results) of the 3 wishes. Personally, I'm trying to get the elusive status symbol that is the Magical Crawdad Box (on my alt Bradd) and have yet to see what the chances of getting it is. In the spirit of the Daily Quest Fish Catch Rate, I was hoping people could post the results of Mr. Pinchy's wishes.

Posts should be formatted in the following format (for clarity's sake):

Mr. Pinchy #: Wish Result 1, Wish Result 2, Wish Result 3

If you've caught multiple Mr. Pinchy's, please post the results for each Mr. Pinchy's wishes separately. (If you forgot what all you've gotten, just start with whatever Mr. Pinchy number you're currently on)

Wish results should be posted as the following:

Benevolent = Benevolent Mr. Pinchy
Furious = Furious Mr. Pinchy
Gift = Mr. Pinchy's Gift (Containing Mana & Healing Potions)
Pet = Magical Crawdad Box
Blessing = Mr. Pinchy's Blessing

On Deathxtreme, my results were:

Mr. Pinchy 1: Gift, Benevolent, Pet

I'll post the results of Bradd, my alt, later tonight after I make my third wish...

On SHIFT-CLICK (or right-click, either way)
- apply to my fishing pole (already equipped) a Sharpened Fish Hook if no Weather Beaten Fishing Hat is equipped

Note - I use ItemRack with a fishing gear set to equip a pole (and a fishing hat for my toons that have one).

Thanks in advance for your help - i know I fail at writing macro's

Just wondering what people would like to see implented in a future patch that would improve fishing or make it more fun.

Personally I would love to see Blizzard come up with a way to customize your fishing. Two good ideas I thought of was, either: being able to customize your cast action instead of everyone having the same cast action, or being able to actually customize your bobber.

So I started fishing like last week - I was about 17 skill then so I leveled to 150-ish. So I decided to go to Orgrimmar as an Alliance to go for Old Crafty and got him within 50 casts :o. A couple days later I caught the one in Ironforge and caught him in about 100-150 casts... Just now on my very first Northrend daily I looted a Jeweled Fishing Pole. :O All this in about 5 days.

Anyway I'm just gonna go catch a sea turtle mount on my first cast bai.

(I'm fishing skill 250-ish now)

I haven't seen anyone mention this on this site yet, so I'll link the source:

http://forums.wow-europe.com/thread.html?topicId=11155811788&sid=1&pageNo=1#0

"Don't forget, in patch 3.3.0 you never catch trash from fishing pools, regardless of skill. "

What does this mean? And why would anyone need to skill up fishing, if pool fishing was always successful?

El says: For new readers, I recommend the summary guide to the One That Didn't Get Away. Original post:

While most fishing achievements will not be possible to do before the 3.0 patch, or even the expansion itself, there are a few that you can do before that time.

Fish Don't Leave Footprints - learn the ability to find fish
Master Angler of Stranglethorn - win the Booty Bay fishing contest
Mr. Pinchy's Magical Crawdad Box - fish your way to Mr. Pinchy's Magical Crawdad Box
Old Crafty - fish up Old Crafty in Orgrimmar
Old Ironjaw - fish up Old Ironjaw in Ironforge

And finally:
One That Didn't Get Away - fish up one of the rare fish

Those first 5 are pretty straightforward. I'm not saying that they're all easy, but it's clear what you have to do. But I'm wondering about the last achievement, get one of the rare fish. Now, if you're like me, you don't want to buy one at the auction house, even if they're available. Which one of the rare fishes would you think is the easiest to get? Should we fish in a starter area for a chance of a big Mudsnapper or Catfish? Should we head to Azshara for a Lobster or Mightfish? Should we try to get the Rockhide Strongfish during the tournament?

Did the drop chance change for gold coins? Or does the chance for gold coins increase once you have collected all the silver and copper ones? Last night I got the achievement in 15 min, I was missing 2 coins. Two other people got the achievement during that time. I was catching 3 or 4 gold coins every 2 minutes, this never happened before. I was used to have the "lucky" buff up only part of the time fishing there, now I was catching more gold coins than I could use!

On warcraftpets.com, the news section suggests an undocumented 3.2 change is an increased drop rate of the croc minipets. Has anyone had better luck?
