Nothing to show for the effort yet... sigh...</p> <p>I sure wish Blizz had updated this achieve to work in a location with fish that were usable in Cata content. He's got everything except the Rare Fish and the Fishing Contest win (which I'm saving for the last achievement).</p> <p>The other day I made a new bank alt (with fishing and cooking), and sent him down to the pond next to the Blacksmith Shop in Goldshire and threw a line in the water.</p> <p>On the second (!!!!!) cast, I caught a rare fish. :(</p> <p>You can't believe how depressed that made me. Yeah. Unfortunately for me, I didn't know all these nifty tricks when I got my Old Ironjaw. Took me 2832 casts to catch him. The one that I discovered later was the instance trick. Queue up with a buddy, and don't leave party after you run through the instance. Then you can simply teleport to the dungeon whenever you have some player agro. </p> <p> I fished for like 18 hours, getting pwned, and frustrated and I'd log out. On my server, It's alliance heavy, and they didn't much like me fishing there. Not to mention my close friends in vent all had level 80 alliance toons.... And they thought it was FREAKING HILARIOUS to swoop in and pwn me really fast. Sometimes, they'd just stand on my bobber.... Or they'd roll a noobie alt Gnome, and call themselves a "Crotch Gnome" and just stand at my crotch (I was a blood elf at the time)</p> <p>I really did enjoy catching that fish though... I wish there were more rare fish achievements to be honest... It's a thrill fighting off a swarm of people with your fishing pole... </p> <p>Sometimes my friends and I would fight there for hours... I'm a lock, and my friend is an Enhance shaman. He has a fetish for pvp. As did I back then. Went there today with my pally, trying to do the trick of standing behind the wheel and fishing again... turns out lava is no longer fishable :( jumped on an old ally toon to confirm. So only one other good spot in ironforge, that cove lake thingy, try the sleeping trick again i guess. When his meter came up with 23 million hp I fought for like 2 rotations and then properly counted the zeros. I wonder if I'm wasting my lures and lager? (Although, keeping that drinking buff up is a challenge in itself, with only a 3 min duration. I Finally Got the Fishing Bug, and Jumped and Lept through the Anglers Acheeves, Got my Mr. Pinchy within a Week, and the rest in good time, But..The Last 2 left Were Winning a Fishing Derby and "The One That Didn't get Away". I could Not believe It..My Very First Derby I entered..Wouldn't ya know.. I got the Black Tip Shark and raced back to Dalaran For the Win and got my Boots. I know Lucky..and highly Rare, I was elated. Now the Final Beast. I tried for the Dark Herring but just wasn't loving it, so after about 800 casts I switched to the 15 LB Mud Snapper in Crystal Lake. I got about 1200 Casts Total and got my Bloated Smallfish but not the one that got away. I read ELs Anglin' and StoneBull Lake was what everyone was talking about. So at 186 casts total.. 15 LB Mud Snapper!!!! Given this was Over a Months time only fishing there for 10 mins at a time. But 20 casts in today there it was.. SALTY !!!!!!. Here's how the numbers looked at StoneBull Lake. Been working last couple weeks off and on in the Herring pools of Howling Fjord and caught around 900 herring with no darkies. First cast for the daily today at thunder falls and the snapper surprised me by flopping in my lap.</p> <p>Thought I'd post it as another confirmation that Thunder falls can be used as an alternative to crystal lake.</p> <p>Good luck to the rest of you still casting for it! </p>
