I started playing WoW in December 2007; one of my best friends has been playing since it came out and finally talked me into playing. Of course, now I'm hooked! I currently have a level 70 Nelf Druid and he's been fishing since he started his journey in the world of Azeroth. He was still around level 62 when patch 2.4 came out with the daily fishing quests, which hastened my drive to reach 70!

I try to do the daily daily, and have thus far achieved a 98% success rate. I have received all of the notable treasures, except for the weather-beaten fishing hat and The 2 Ring. I'm on a PvP server, which makes winning the Extravaganza extremely hard. It is a gank fest royale on my realm (Nathrezim), even after a winner has been declared. The winner needs to have a lot of support from friends and/or guild members to be successful. I've been trying to organize a guild outing every Sunday but have yet to drum up the support I'll need to win.

In RL, I have three wonderful children (ages 1 1/2, 3, & 4 1/2 years) and a loving wife. I've been playing video games since the early '80s and just turned 39 this year.

I'm a purchasing guy IRL... I buy stuff for hotels.

At home I like to play video games, before WoW I enjoyed things like the Myst series and the old NES console (I have a NES Emulation program and had an old controller modified to have a USB end). Also those old text games like Zork, and old pen & paper Dungeons & Dragons. My drink of choice is hard cider (Ciderjack, Woodchuck, Woodpecker, Hornsbys, Magners, whatever is available).

Besides games and purchasing I am a family man, married with one 9 year old daughter and one daughter on the way (due July 17th). I turn 30 in August.

talking of booze. finally another reason to get drunk whilst fishing! in RL it makes fishing go quicker, in Game it'll now actually raise fishing level.. instead of making us maybe think that it might make the rate catches better. (damn that master angler dropping hints)

Speaking of cakes and Alton Brown...My wife is a cake decorator and her hero is Duff Goldman from Ace of Cakes (for what it's worth).

She has done some incredible 3-D cakes like he does. She did a 2 foot tall 3-D Star Wars R2-D2 grooms cake one time, has done numeorus other "specialty" cakes, some wedding and engagement cakes, etc...

As for me...I'm a Star Wars dork with a Star Wars toy collection that takes up half of my sons room :) Oh, and my active hobby is rock climbing. There's me...what about y'all...what active hobbies do you girls and guys have?

Cake:
1 cup chopped pecans or walnuts
1 18.5 oz. package yellow cake mix
1 3.75 oz. package jell-o vanilla instant pudding and pie filling *
4 eggs*
0.5 cup cold water
0.5 cup oil (I use olive oil, original recipe calls for Wesson)*
0.5 cup dark rum

* If your cake mix contains pudding omit instant pudding, use 3 eggs, ~0.333 cups oil.

Glaze: **
0.25 pounds butter
0.25 cup water
1 cup granulated sugar
0.5 cub dark rum

** Firstly, these quantities will yield twice as much glaze as you'll use. I suggest halving all but the rum. (Because, it's rum. And you're a pirate, right?) Secondly, half that amount of butter is just fine. If you're using the above quantities, I suggest 0.125 pounds butter. If you're halving the recipe, use 0.0625 pounds butter. (I don't know the html code for fractions offhand, real pirates convert in their head.)

Preheat oven to 325 degrees Fahrenheit. (Authentic pirates use Kelvin, but I doubt you have an authentic pirate oven.) Grease and flour the 10" tube or 12-cup Bundt pan. Sprinkle nuts of your choice over bottom. Mix the cake ingredients together. Pour batter over nuts, bake 1 hour. Allow to cool.

As the cake bakes and cools, prepare the glaze.
Melt butter in saucepan, stir in water and sugar. Boil 5 minutes, stirring constantly. Remove from heat, stir in rum. The length of time between removing from heat and stirring in the rum may affect how much alcohol you enjoy. If you enjoy alcohol, and the glaze gets all sorts of bubbly when you add some rum, wait a bit longer. If you're dry, don't wait too long.

Invert cake on serving dish. Prick the top. (Last time I did this, I took a chopstick to "prick" the top, skewering the cake to the halfway point at regular intervals around the top of the cake, alternating between the outer and inner edge. My cake was moist and delicious.) Spoon and brush glaze. Allow cake to absorb glaze. Repeat until glaze is used up.

Edit:
Time for some disclosure. I'm baking a rum cake right now. A benefit of baking rum cake is you can drink rum while baking. Now, I want to take a moment to talk about Alton Brown, a pirate. Alton Brown is terrific when it comes to cooking, baking, measuring, quantifying, and explaining. I suggest using Alton's Muffin Method of mixing the batter. If you don't know what that is, you're a lousy pirate.

Attention lousy pirates: Do not over-mix the batter. It shouldn't be smooth, it should have lumps. Knowing how to not over-mix is difficult. Take Alton's advice and stop mixing 10 seconds before you think you're done mixing. And use a whisk.

Well, you start with your basic Vanilla Cake mix box (preferably with the "gelatin pudding" already added). Add some oil, egg (I think maybe), water (maybe), and half a cup of dark rum. Mix.

Take nuts (of your choice, I like walnuts) and sprinkle on the bottom of a Bundt cake pan/dish/thingy. (After lightly greasing and flouring the panthingy.) Pour in batter, insert into pre-heated oven at some temperature for some length of time.

While the cake is baking, prepare the glaze. Melt a quarter stick of butter in a saucepan. Add half cup of water and half cup of sugar. Stir on high. Lower flame when it's mixed. Depending on how much alcohol you want in your glaze will determine when you add the rum. If you want the heat to properly bake out the alcohol, add it sooner. If not, add it later.

Remove cake from oven and pan. Flip it. Glaze it. Enjoy pirate rum cake. Arrrrr.

I'll post the actual recipe when I'm not running out to the movies and have it in front of me.
