I've managed to find one Waterlogged Recipe so far (on the 3.2 PTR) - image. This gave 5 Dalaran Cooking Awards (plus some gold and 250 Kirin Tor reputation).

I'm curious to know if there is just one recipe, or whether there are several possible quests? So if anyone is on the PTR and doing the fishing daily, please post what you find.

As I (and probably many other people) suggested, the 3.2 patch will speed up cooking if you have the Chef's Hat equipped.

Anyone know of a good set type for a chef, to go with the hat? I'd have it already, but I spent some awards on spices long before 3.1 >.>

Is there an item looks like the clothing the dalaraan chef's wear?

Sort of.

I tried posting this in the Blizzard professions forum and got, at best, some indifferent comments. I feel, though, that the readers here will be a little more receptive. One of the comments I got was that as far as efficient money making techniques go this one is far from perfect, but it just so happens that it fits my time schedule well. It's also primarily based around fishing, in which everyone here is already well versed.

So it was El's that really gave me the original idea. I was already at 450 in both my fishing and cooking, but I was reading over the cooking/fishing leveling guide here. The thought was this... Could I just go out and follow that guide, fish up the amounts detailed therein, pick up the recipes, cookbooks, quest requirements, etc, and then sell them in one big package?

I decided to give it a shot. I think the first run through was maybe 5 hours total fishing and farming mobs. I didn't buy anything. When I was done, I used a friend's alt as a test subject. The idea was that we could just park the alt in Dal and use it to run the cooking quest and get Northern Spices. Incidentally, I only did 1-400. You can't get to 450 in one sitting, and 400 lets you cook the recipes bought with the cooking awards, so it was a good place to stop.

So it pretty much went off without a hitch. It was about 45 minutes, 1-400, and that included getting to Gadget for the artisan quest. 3.1 has made things easier as you can get artisan at the trainers, and you don't need to pick up the cookbooks any longer.

So once I knew it was doable, I gathered two more sets of mats and tried to sell them. I'm not sure what amount I tried at first, but soon after I set upon 1250g as my price. Things went so well I haven't stopped since.

If people are interested in specifics I'd be happy to share, but one of the complaints about my forum post was that it was too long, and people didn't want to read walls of text. The short version is this.... I've sold almost 70 of these kits in the last 3 months, and have probably made between 60,000 - 70,000g. (I don't always charge full price.)

One thing that makes this work is that I'm enjoying running an in game business. If you're a hard-core raider and most of your time is spent running instances this might not be for you. But if you'd like to try something new and make a little cash, you might want to give it a shot.

On the Dalaran daily cooking quests page, it states:"Only 1 quest can be completed per day, by those level 74 or above. "

I was able to do the daily as a level 71, with cooking skill 400 - The quest I I had today was "Convention at the Legerdemain"

Also I believe I read somewhere that delicious chocolate cake recipe would be offered for purchase with daily cooking tokens - this is currently not the case. There are 22 recipes offered for rewards and the list unfortunately doesn't include the elusive chocolate cake!

After checking with the Proper Cooking Authorities in Dalaran, I have found this recipe is not available through the regular means. Does it require reputation as well as the 450 skill?

Thanks for any help in acquiring this delicacy of fishy goodness!

By the way Ol Man Barlow gave me a hat yesterday because he saw the sun was beating on my poor little bald gnome head too heavily!

This might not apply to fishing directly but it's the best one i could find applying to the topic.

It's just an idea but i think the fire making skill should be developed more. Instead of just being able to make basic cooking fires you should be able to make things like bonfires, poisoning fires, smoke signal fires, and specialty fires used to cook food giving them an enchantment like +2 stamina for every thing made over it. these fires would need special types of wood too like Fel Imbued wood, blood wood, Ice Thorn wood, cursed wood, spirit wood, and ancient wood. The list is endless and the possibility with it.

Ever since I got myself down to leveling fishing and cooking till November 18th (The day when Northrend opened around here), This website has been my only stop for my preparation before Northend.

Nowhere else I could find the information about fishes and recipes, and in fact, following this website's guide to 450 in fishing netted me a nice Feat of Strength, the first person to get 450 cooking in the realm! (It turns out that it wasn't only the realm but the whole country XD)

Now I can finally level my character to 80, and hopefully obtain the Chef title as well.

Once again, thank you for creating such a wonderful website :)

PS. cool, my armory link is working. :P

I've been working fishing and cooking together on my Death Knight, since Blizzard saw fit to start both skills at untrained. In the course of using the Fishing and Cooking guide, I've decided to make some notes that El may (or may not) want to incorporate into the guide. Keep in mind that I'm using the Horde version for the Azeroth portion.

* When you pick up the Cooking skill, be sure to learn Spice Bread as well, and purchase 60 each of Simple Flour and Mild Spices, and make three stacks of the food. This will give you a cheap head-start on your Cooking (about 40 points), and add a total of about a minute to your overall time spent.

* To save time, pick up your Expert Cooking and Fishing guides before you start, so that you don't have to take a break to get them. Also if you're Horde (particularly if you're also a Death Knight, since you're right there) swing by the Hinterlands and pick up Nat Pagle's Extreme Angler FC-5000 to keep in your inventory if you don't already have it; this will save you unnecessary trips later.

* In the Horde portion of the guide, I found a part of Sun Rock Retreat in Stonetalon Mountains where the inn runs very close to the lake. If you stand in the right spot you can gain rested XP while fishing.

* The inn at Freewind Post in Thousand Needles sells the cheese needed for the Artisan cooking quest, and it's directly in the flight path from Mudsprocket to Gadgetzan, so I would recommend picking it up there rather than in Desolace as the guide suggests... particularly if you picked up the Expert Cooking Guide already, which would eliminate traveling to Desolace at all (with the exception of the Artisan Fishing quest).

* In the Outland portion of the guide, it states that you should vendor/ditch all the Barbed Gill Trout. I would recommend instead picking up the recipe for Blackened Trout, which can be trained at 300 and can be purchased from Gambarinka (Horde, Zabra'Jin) or Doba (Alliance, Orebor Harborage). This recipe will stay yellow until 320 and green until 340, and since you'll be fishing up about 200 of them, there's no reason not to use this recipe. Also at around 315 or 320 Cooking (I don't remember which) Kylene <Barmaid> at the World's End Tavern in Shattrath sells a Stewed Trout recipe which will get your cooking up to 335 (Yellow) / 355 (Green).

That's as far as I've gotten; right now I'm just trying to get my Fishing and Cooking skills comparable to my level (I'm 67 now, so about 335 skill).
