So I read the patch notes about the Waterlogged Recipe, and I've been wondering... If I save all the bags I get from now til the patch, and open them afterwards, will I be able to get Waterlogged Recipes out of them? Or is the loot predetermined when I pick up the bag? This also applies to the increased drop rate of Cooking Awards from Spice Bags.

My main toon seems to be barred from getting the fishing goodies.

Another of my toons got the jeweled pole on Tuesday, then the Bone pole on Wed. I sent a tell to a friend to tell her about it and she responded, "Wow, i did too!" She got the poles the same exact way on the same days. I have since talked to another person the got them like that on the same days.

This screams something 'other' than random.

Anyone else get the poles this week?

I just want to see if I'm alone in having extremely bad luck with the rewards.

I do the fishing daily in Dalaran every day, haven't missed a single day since they were introduced. Have yet to see Crawler, either of the fishing poles, gems, tiny lockbox or even porcelain bell. I did, however, get the new age painting 5 days in a row once.

So anyone else in the same boat? I am getting a bit discouraged.

Does anyone know what the minimum requirements are to do the Northend dailies. My alt is level 66 with 310 fishing and I can't get the quests. This site suggests that 65 is the minimum level - do you think there is a minimum fishing skill level as well, maybe 375?

From what I've read on the official forums, the daily fishing quests are still sometimes bugged - as they were on the Public Test Realm: When trying to fish for the daily quest fish, the loot window comes up empty. This does not happen for every daily quest. I believe that if you continue to catch nothing, eventually the quest fish will appear. Keep in mind that daily quest fish are no longer always caught on first catch - it might take many catches, as it did originally in patch 2.4.

There's also a post about Crocolisks in the City kicking a character out of the game when recalling to Dalaran, which I know nothing about.

WARNING: This has only been tested on EU-Realms!

Many of us got everything (except the crocs) from the fishing daily and are only waiting for "Crocs in the City" to appear. But only a few knew this little trick. (Or call it bug, whatever you want...)

Winter:
The daily-counter get reseted at 3:00 AM. But the quests change some seconds later. If you accept the fishing daily 1 second after the counter reset, you'll be able to do yesterdays daily a second time! If you're very fast (deactivate your addons to log in faster), you can do this with 2 chars on the same account.
This works also with the dungeon dailys and the PvP daily in Shattrath. I tested this once in Dalaran with the cooking daily, but it did not work. Maybe I was too slow? Don't know. I will test it sometime later, but crocs in the city is priority #1.

Summer:
This will be a litte bit different. Quests change at 3:00 AM. But the counter is reseted at 4:00 AM. So you can get the quest at 3 AM, complete it and do it again at 4 AM.

Just thought I'd report it in case it happens to anyone else...

The first time I got "Shrimpin' Ain't Easy", every bloated fish I got had only partially digested weeds in it. I fished up about twenty, double-checked I still had the quest and it said "0/10" on my shrimp count. I abandoned the quest and got it again, same result. Didn't feel like waiting 90 minutes for a GM, so I just gave up on it, that day.

Guild members reported it worked fine that day, and it worked for my alt, so I don't think it was server-wide. The next time it came around, it worked fine on both characters.

So today's daily is crocs again, and I made a promise elsewhere on this forum to check EVERY city when it came up, so here i go.

I figured to start a shatt because it's the closest, however shortly after it tells me theres no fish in any of the water in shatt. Shatt = no croc.

I then port to Silvermoon to start my journey, the first set of water encountered turns out isnt fishable either after journeying to the bazaar it turns out there isnt fishable either....
SIlvermoon = no croc

The Undercity - just the normal old skulls and sickly looking fish - no croc

Next on my list was Orgrimar but this is stated in the quest text and is already known to have the croc, i went anyway just to make it a complete test. Org = croc

Time for thunder bluff (on my through dalaran to get to TB, i tried fishing, but no croc - however no surprisess there - btw that's underbelly included) disappointed in TB - no croc

Next came the exodar - now for the exciting bit - breaking into ally cities solo... i've had much practice at this and is great fun to go fishing there if you're bored =) - after all that, there is no fishable water... no croc

Time for darnassus - this city isnt really fun to break into... but it is a mighty challenge, as it is a fort... hwoever this has not stopped my many break ins prior =) No croc

I figured while im here i'll catch the boat to stormwind then train to Ironforge, during which i would fish in stormwind for the same reason as org - Croc

Now for my final stop - Ironforge, which allegedly does have the crocs - and yes it does indeed have crocs - this includes in the lava

SUMMARY:
Shattrath; No
Dalaran; No
Silvermoon; No
Undercity; No
Orgrimmar; Yes
Thunder bluff; No
Ironforge; Yes
Stormwind; Yes
Exodar; No
Darnassus; No

Conclusion: The baby crocs can be caught in Orgrimmar, SW and IF, nowhere else - why two ally cities who knows, it may be to do with old ironjaw (?)
having this quest NO LONGER SEEMS TO increase your old crafty/ironjaw catch rate signifigantly but in doing so may be classified as bug abuse - this may be intentional so may not be a bug and also it would be impossible to tell if you had done this or not. But be careful.

Happy fishing all

It is apparently possible to catch the Baby Crocolisk from The Forlorn Cavern in Ironforge.

I was bored (4am and I couldn't sleep), so I decided to go level the fishing skill of my Hunter some more (who, through luck and divine providence had gotten my 2nd Weather-Beaten Fishing Hat from the Crocolisk daily quest a week before).

To my surprise, the first catch I made in the Forlorn Cavern turned out to be the baby crocolisk, me not being aware that I had actually accepted the quest two days ago with my Hunter (but forgot to do it, thanks to frustration overwhelming me).

However, I am aware of the old adage 'Screen or it didn't happen!'.

http://img236.imageshack.us/img236/641/ifcrocoliskfullxy7.jpg - full screenshot, interface, timestamp and whatnot

http://img236.imageshack.us/img236/8402/ifcrocolisksmallur8.jpg - just the chatlog.

Question: The question is whether all racial capitols are viable places to go croc'ing to (provided, of course, that they have fisheable plots of water) or not.

I apologize beforehands should this information have come up earlier, but alas, it's 04.41 and I think my brain is currently oozing out of my left ear.

edit: As luck would have it, the daily quest reset brought about another round of Baby Crocolisk anglin', and since I follow the school of 'I do it because I can', I went and tested if I could catch it from Ironforge once more.

And yes, I could

http://img81.imageshack.us/img81/1648/wowscrnshot041508045954kw6.jpg - Same location, same fishing pole (Seth's Graphite Fishing Pole, no fishing line, fishing hat bait), different fishing skill (375 as opposed to 240-ish)

el on "Daily Quest Fish Catch Rates (Data Wanted)"

4 of the 5 new daily fishing quests require catching a special quest-only fish. The catch rates for these fish are very variable. I'd like to gather reliable data about how many catches each quest fish takes. In the PTR thread we saw that even with the equivalent of months' worth of data from one character, the pattern wasn't clear. This isn't something I can do alone, nor is it information that the database sites will collect correctly.

So, I'd like you to please:

Count the number of catches from starting to fish for the quest fish, to catching the quest fish. If you caught 7 non-quest fish, and then the 8th catch was the quest fish, record 8 against the quest.

Please post data in this thread using the following format:

Away:
Bait:
Crocs:
Felblood:

Here's an example:

Away: 10,12
Bait: 1,32,15
Crocs: 3
Felblood:

The first line, "Away", is for The One That Got Away. The two numbers mean that you recorded the quest twice, the first time got World's Largest Mudfish on the 10th catch, the second on the 12th catch. Put a comma between numbers. So Bait Bandits ("Bait") was done 3 times, with the Blackfin Darter caught on the 1st, 32nd, and 15th catch. Crocolisks in the City ("Crocs") was only done once (3rd catch), Felblood Fillet ("Felblood") wasn't completed.

Please:

Only record results for catches that are in the correct location (open water, not pools) when the quest is active: Only submit catch rates if you are sure it is reliable.

Don't record anything for Shrimpin' Ain't Easy - the catch rate from that is well understood.

Wait until you have done more than a few quests before posting data - ideally post sets every few weeks.

If you post several times do not post the same data again! Start a fresh template for each post.

I'm curious about the catch rate, and I'm hoping enough other people will be to record and post their numbers. This first post will be used to summarise data posted. I'll update it from time to time - don't be concerned if updates don't happen immediately. Any questions or comments can be posted in here to.

Current Results (to 25 June 2008):

Value/Quest … Away … Bait … Crocs … Felblood

The page on daily fishing quests might want to mention that the wearable "junk" items you can get might be sellable on the auction house for large amounts of money. Lots of wealthy 70s like to dress up their bank alts with fancy items that level 5s can wear, and paying ridiculous amounts is part of the status race. Try putting these items up for 100-500G each:

Antique Silver Cufflinks
Gold Wedding Band

So since 2.4 doing the fishing daily on 2 chars and getting no loot of interest, I open my treasure bag this morning and see the 2 ring!!

Hopefully it sells for a good chunk of change to go towards my epic mount fund :D

I finally got around to taking my level 62, fishing 305 naked Shaman to pick up the quests. Regrettably, the Old Man didn't cooperate -- no-go on being offered the quest. The minimum isn't 60, apparently. We'll see at 65, but I'm not hopeful.

When doing the daily fishing quest “The One That Got Away” that sends us to Nagrand, I do my fishing in lake next to the horde town. After doing this quest several times I accidentally discovered something.

The shore I fish from is between the horde base and the mountain. As I’m alliance I usually stand closer to the mountain. This has worked well for me. But the last time I moved even closer to the mountain to avoid an annoying water element. Fifty two casts later I still didn’t have my quest fish. I knew something was up. I looked up at my mini map and found that it no longer listed the name of the lake. I moved to the left a few steps and the text changed and showed the lake’s name again. I started fishing and caught my quest fish in a reasonable number of casts.

So be sure to check your mini map to make certain you’re standing in the right spot. Even if you are fishing in the right lake you may not be fishing in the right lake. The folks at Blizzard have an odd sense of humor.

Someone said in alt.games.warcraft that their alt could do the baby croc quest (I assume level 70) even though that alt hadn't fished before, getting their skill from 1 to 20 doing that quest, so there's no fishing skill minimum.

There is still an invisible wall preventing swimmers from reaching Sunwell Isle; this might be worth mentioning to any below-70 fishers thinking of going there. I don't know if players below 70 will be able to use the portal to Sunwell Isle that will spawn in Shattrath after the required number of Sunwell dailies are completed by players in the realm.
