I want to be able to tell if Blizzard has changed the catch rate at my favorite fishing spot.</p> <p>While doing so, I also wondered exactly what the Achievement tracker counts as a fish. Specifically, i wanted to know whether or not Pygmy Suckerfish was included among them. I strongly suspected it wasn't - but my fish eating pet will eat them, while my meat eating pet won't. I also wondered whether the crate was counted as 1 "other thing" (if at all), or if it was the contents ("other things" being 3 if I got three Frostweave Cloth for example)</p> <p>So, before I started today's session I jotted down the Achievement tracker's data (Statistics tab)</p> <p>Fish caught: 8001<br /> Fish and other things caught: 9266</p> <p>Here is what I caught in Grizzly Hills open water (coordinates 29,57 - near Amberpine Lodge)</p> <p>Bonescale Snapper: 231<br /> Fangtooth Herring: 72<br /> Glacial Salmon: 57<br /> Pygmy Suckerfish: 40<br /> Reinforced Crate: 9<br /> Dark Herring: 1</p> <p>(Yes, they CAN be caught in open water! It took nearly 5000 casts here to get it though)</p> <p>One would think that the first three would be considered "Fish", right? That would mean I caught 360 fish.</p> <p>Here is what the tracker says after today's session:</p> <p>Fish caught: 8255 (an increase of only 254!)<br /> Fish and other things caught: 9553: (an increase of a mere 287!!)</p> <p>No matter how you mess with the numbers... the tracker is off - by a LOT!</p> <p>============</p> <p>UPDATE:</p> <p>While composing the original post, Blizzard did a rolling restart of the servers. Unfortunately, not everything you catch is counted as "a fish": The achievement does not count "other items".</p> <p>It is becoming clear that some things we thought were fish are not fish. I think it would be helpful if we could gather information about what is counted as a fish, and what is not. So if you watch your catches carefully, please use this thread to post what you find is counted as a fish and what is not counted as a fish. Logged off at 450 fish. Logged back on, and I was at 360 fish. LOL .. things a mess.</p> <p>Also, Mr Pinchy seems be be granting unlimited wishes at the moment. Like a ton of people here, I left the two most annoying fishing achievements for last: 1k fish and catching a rare. I'm sure most of the readers here have done both already several times over, so we're just looking for a quick way to get it out of the way.</p> <p>Anyway, the achievement interface lets you monitor progress on achievements. I turned it on for my fish count, since I was noticing it was going a bit slow. Lo and behold, I'm getting around half of my fish counted. I thought it might be that alchemy reagent fish weren't get counted, but that doesn't seem to be the case. It's just indiscriminately ignoring half of what I pull up, and all fish seem to be affected.</p> <p>Is it just me or is anybody else getting this?</p> <p>Oh, and I'm not experiencing any particular lag on my realm at the moment. </p>
