Whilst levelling my fishing, as I levelled my character, I always thought the way the fishing skill was tied to a particular zone gave fishing an unrealistic feel. Not being able to cast because your skill isn’t high enough? Never liked that idea. The new implementation seems much better, cast anywhere, but you’re only likely to catch something worthwhile if your skill is high enough to hook the local fish. I think it adds a touch of realism and whilst giving and angler the chance of a lucky catch in a high skill zone, doesn’t make it possible/worthwhile to totally skip the levelling process through the lower zones.

Good to see fishing dailies coming to Dalaran, with some interesting new goodies in the rewards bags too. I’m also looking forward to possibly fishing my way to a new pet and mount :-) I must really get round to fishing up my last gold coin though, I don’t have much enthusiasm for fountain fishing as it is, but when this new stuff arrives I know I’ll never get round to it.

I’m on a PvE realm, so fishing in Wintergrasp sounds like it’s gonna be a bit of fun, the chance of a ganking and having to literally fight for your swim should liven up an otherwise dull fishing trip no end!!! :-)

I've not cared for many of the changes to fishing since one of the staff mentioned on the WOW profession forums they had taken up fishing. The worst of which was fish finding, imo, since a good fisher would already know where all the pools were if they were worth their salt.
Very happy new dailys are coming out with new stuffs, sad that fishing continues to be nerfed.

Yeah, thou the real fishers can always just turn the fish finding option off if they so wish that isn't to big of a deal. Until lazy fishers come flying down only to try and fish your pool dry >.<

I put some thought into the "fish anywhere" change and tried to take all the changes as positive as i could and came to the conclusion that it does make sense to be able to fish in any body of water inside and outside of Azeroth. Thou it takes real skill to fish up the real prize.

I just hope that in 3.2 we get our boats/ships that we all been longing for.

The one thing that bugs me is that with all the changes being put into place is going to bring alot more people to this prof (fishing) because its easyer, tho that may not be the cause but none the less the changes do annoy me.

I really wish that they would have kept it to how you need a skill level to fish in a zone, and only added the fished up junk to replace the "No fish are hooked"

The new dailies, mount, pet and other items such as the new poles is what i'm mainly looking forward too.

For me yes, the best fisherman had the best gear....I have no issue with the advantage they have. Much like I dont mind the advantage people had who put in the time and got their fishing up so they could fish there. However, I don't think it changes much if you really catch MOSTLY worthless junk; I just am worried about the potential botting problem. Plus with this new mount, and being able to fish anywhere.....gonna be a lot of people trying to fish pools, even if they just have the chance while they lvl fishing skill....but thats just me bein greedy :P

If they are trying to fish pools and just catching junk, it wont get rid of the pool spawns. Just stand next to them and fish up all the pool spawns in 3 casts while they sit there fetching junk :P. Besides, with the addition of the three most important fish (Glacial Salmon, Nettlefish and Musselback Scuplin) into Wintergrasp NON pools, it kinda defeats the purpose of pool fishing elsewhere.

That said, i am still dissapointed with this 'fishing skill 1, fish anywhere!' idea, and the fact that you only have to be lvl 10 to get artisian fishing! I can see bank alts buying portals to dalaran just so they can make a bit of extra cash getting rusty footlocker's key

Can lvl 1 herbalists loot goldthorn, but mostly get useless herbs? Can lvl 1 miners mine cobolt, but mostly get 'useless junk'? Can lvl 1 Skinners skin the obsidian sanctum dragons and mostly get useless junk?

Stupid, stupid change IMO

Well, maybe. However, when you look at it now, Frozen sea requires 480 to cast, in 3.1 it will require skill as low as 1. However, to get good chance of cathing something worthwhile (let's say 70%), now, you'd need about 545 skill, in 3.1, it's 83% of skill required to stop get-aways (0,7^0,5), which is about 480. Basically, it makes gear matter less, removing the minor advantage that fisherman with gear had. Yes, if you are going for 100% chance to catch useful fish, then it doesn't change anything.

It's just matter of opinion. And well, I was rather asking about your opinions, than arguing with my own.

Yes but they won't be catching the same items that you will be. What does it matter if they cast in the frozen sea when they pull out a grey item that sells for 1c and you pull out a Monsterbelly? It's just not the same thing. I think it's more for the convenience of not having to sit in Org for 25 hours casting over again to be able to fish in Northrend.

As the name suggests, I'd like to hear your opinions about fishing in new patch. Well, new dailies, new mount... I'm pretty sure we all are happy about that, however, what about the other changes?

To start: I'm really looking forward to patch, as I waited pretty long for new fishing dailies (and yet another opportunity to get the damned fishing hat) and new "fishing" mount just cannot dissapoint. However, the other changes made to fishing aren't so good for me.

In my opinion, fishing isn't about rush. It was pretty relaxation, at least for me, and seeing another decrease in fishing cast time just doesn't seem fitting. I know, there were changes to most professions as well, so I could expect that, but it kinda disappointed me.

Artisan fishing quest removal is disappointing as well. It isn't THAT hard to complete and it added some "flavour" to fishing. At least, other Alliance folks can now stop arguing about FC-5000.

The last thing is the rework of skill requierement. Few people here, myself included, wanted some special, harder fishing area, that would require more than 575. Something special, for those who are dedicated enough to have great fishing gear and patience to fish. However, this change is pretty much opposite of it and the new mechanics just don't allow such areas anymore, as everyone can now fish even in the hardes areas on Azeroth.
