But indeed, that only applies to the Azeroth Daily (you can only do one from any one capital city). You can still do the Outland and Northrend Dailies in addition to the Azeroth Daily.</p> <p>When one of my characters reach level 70, I start a little 'Daily Journey' for them that generally goes like this:</p> <p>Start in Shattrath<br /> Pick up Outland Fishing/Cooking Dailies (typically complete but don't turn in yet)<br /> Hearth to Dalaran (hearthstone set to Dalaran, obviously)<br /> Pick up Northrend Fishing/Cooking Dailies<br /> Optional: do the Kalu'ak Dailies if you are trying to get their great fishing pole (and if you're fishing, why wouldn't you be going for this?)<br /> More Optional Dailies: (depending upon level) Scholozar Basin Dailies, Coldarra, Dragonblight Wyrmrest Accord Dailies, Grizzly Hill Dailies<br /> Hearth to Dalaran (turn in completed Dailies)<br /> Teleport to Orgr/Stormwind<br /> Pick up/Complete Azeroth Fishing/Cooking Dailies<br /> Teleport to Blasted Lands, go through Portal, fly to Shattrath (turn in completed Dailies)</p> <p>Since they removed most of the portals from Dalaran and Shattrath, the logistics for getting around is a bit awkward. I picked Shattrath as my 'home' base primarily because of the chance of getting the fishing quest 'Crocolisks in the City' where you then have to travel to Orgr or Stormwind, and it's very irritating to do the Azeroth Daily first, and later get the Crocolisk quest later which forces a return to Orgr/SW.</p> <p>Another 'trick' this above sequence allows is also a good time saver: if you happen to get one of those 'distant' food or fishing quests in Shattrath (such as Mana Berries), after you pick up your 15th Berry in Netherlands, you can just hearth directly to Dalaran instead of having to take the long flight back to Shattrath or the portal in Hellfire Peninsula. </p> <p>Also, 'time' your Northrend fishing/cooking Dailies with the Kalu'ak Dialies in Borean Tundra, Dragonblight, and Howling Fjord. I tend to go in a 'counter-clockwise' motion around Northrend. First, fly to Sholozar Basin (note you can do this for free if you are level 76 and get but don't complete the quest "Where in the World is Hemet Nesingwary?" from Archmage Pentarus in Dalaran. I then fly using my mount rather than take paid transportation to Kaskala (first Kalu'ak Daily). From Une'pe you can take free Turtle Boat to Dragonblight (second Kalu'ak Daily), and from there, take the other Turtle Boat to Howling Fjort (third Kalu'ak Daily). When finished there, your cooldown on your hearth stone is probably complete, and you can hearth back to Dalaran to continue on to Stormwind.</p> <p>"Well, that doesn't really save much money." Aha, but it does! I figured I was paying up to 5 gold and more per day on 'excess' travel costs, Multiply that by a month of dailies, and that's 150g extra in your pocket. Also, you can always fish pools while waiting for the Turtle Boats (which have approximately an 8 minute cycle), so there really is no 'dead' time.</p> <p>One last 'free' ride is to Coldarra (where you can do the "Drake Hunt" daily) from Amber Ledge. You first have to do two small quests from Surristrasz in Amber Ledge, who will then fly you to Coldarra for free whenever you like.</p> <p>There are tons of good Dailies in Northrend, particularly while you are grinding through your 70s. It took me 12 casts to get my Baby croc. I was fishing in Orgrimmar for Old crafty since I heard his drop rate increases to an almost guarentee. However, in those 12 casts. Old crafty did not appear once. It seems Blizzard have fixed this "bug" so having the quest will no longer drop Old crafty at an increased rate. This means, as far as I can see, people will have to go back to grinding for the Elusive fish of The Capital cities.</p> <p>The [Shrimpin' Ain't Easy] quest, against my first impression, does not drop on every catch now. It will use the drop rate of Barbed Gill Trout as it replaces that fish on the catch table.</p> <p>The [Felblood Fillet] quest now requires multiple casts. Caught one in 15 casts.</p> <p>The [Bait Bandits] quest also requires multiple casts. This does not happen for every daily quest. I believe that if you continue to catch nothing, eventually the quest fish will appear. I fished up about twenty, double-checked I still had the quest and it said "0/10" on my shrimp count. I abandoned the quest and got it again, same result. Didn't feel like waiting 90 minutes for a GM, so I just gave up on it, that day.</p> <p>Guild members reported it worked fine that day, and it worked for my alt, so I don't think it was server-wide. The catch rates for these fish are very variable. I'd like to gather reliable data about how many catches each quest fish takes. In the <a href="http://www.elsanglin.com/forums/topic/fishing-changes-in-24-the-dailies">PTR thread</a> we saw that even with the equivalent of months' worth of data from one character, the pattern wasn't clear. This isn't something I can do alone, nor is it information that the database sites will collect correctly.</p> <p>So, I'd like you to please:</p> <p><strong>Count the number of catches from starting to fish for the quest fish, to catching the quest fish.</strong> If you caught 7 non-quest fish, and then the 8th catch was the quest fish, record 8 against the quest.</p> <p>Please post data in this thread using the following format:</p> <p>Away:<br /> Bait:<br /> Crocs:<br /> Felblood:</p> <p>Here's an example:</p> <p>Away: 10,12<br /> Bait: 1,32,15<br /> Crocs: 3<br /> Felblood: </p> <p>The first line, "Away", is for The One That Got Away. The two numbers mean that you recorded the quest twice, the first time got World's Largest Mudfish on the 10th catch, the second on the 12th catch. Put a comma between numbers. So Bait Bandits ("Bait") was done 3 times, with the <a href="/fish/?s=Blackfin Darter" title="Fish Finder - Blackfin Darter.">Blackfin Darter</a> caught on the 1st, 32nd, and 15th catch. Crocolisks in the City ("Crocs") was only done once (3rd catch), Felblood Fillet ("Felblood") wasn't completed.</p> <p>Please:</p> <ul> <li>Only record results for catches that are in the <a href="http://www.elsanglin.com/daily_fishing_quests.html">correct location</a> (open water, not pools) when the quest is active: Only submit catch rates if you are sure it is reliable.</li> <li>Don't record anything for Shrimpin' Ain't Easy - the catch rate from that is well understood.</li> <li>Wait until you have done more than a few quests before posting data - ideally post sets every few weeks.</li> <li>If you post several times <strong>do not post the same data again!</strong> Start a fresh template for each post.</li> </ul> <p>I'm curious about the catch rate, and I'm hoping enough other people will be to record and post their numbers.
