Tiriyon on "Fishing Chat Channel"

Well, about the post tittle you're absolutely right, I feel so dumb right now. (I was to rush to write it because of a socialism feeling, damn I feel now like some Communist T_T).

Umm the channel Idea was that not only 1 realm will enjoy this channel, I meant that everyone will just randomly enter it where ever he\she is, whatever faction he\she is. So the channels will just pop up.

Meanwhile I fish In dalaran fountain and spread the Idea to people who come to fish next to me (if they answer positively after I ask'em if they really like to fish) and then they just join.

Well if you ask what can you do in this channel?
Simple 2 answer - first- it's for RP, second- it's helpful.
If you wan't to know more, just type '/join fish' and wait patiently, as fishers do, and you'll see.

The problem: when will people start to enter those channels?

---------
Now for the Addon: I'm working on a guide addon, which will commercialize those channles and I
hope it'll work.

Well now, all we need is good luck and a strong fishing pole.

Edit: HEY! people say something - if you like dislike it c'mon !

Chat might be handy in wintergrasp--both for group defense, and trading fish for fish feasts.

For those who like to fish I have an Idea to improve our community!
To create a community the best thing is a channel.
Now just type "/join fish" and you'll enter a fishing channel, there's one now in Darkmoon fair realm.

But the topic had a totally random title, so I started a new one. ("EVRYONE LISTEN! - ! - ! - !" is never a good forum topic title...)

Game-specific channels are fine, but limited to faction and realm. There are about 350 English language realms, each with 2 factions. So that's about 700 separate little communities. And I know some people here play on non-English language realms. So it could be more.

Some websites have IRC (Internet Relay Chat) channels, which don't seem terribly popular relative to the site. There are some Twitter-like applications that allow players to communicate with the outside world (like other realms), but they don't seem terribly popular either. Blizzard's upcoming new Battle.net will allow more inter-realm communication, but I don't expect it to support "interest groups", like fishing - I still don't think they understand how fragmented communities can become around "niches" like this.

But it's clearly something people want to do.

Do you have any ideas? Thoughts?

There are more general things I'd like to do to bolster the community - things like being able to find other anglers on your realm, or tracking catches/achievements. We've even talked about in-game addons in the past. But I'd not considered chat.

Fellow fishermen

Anyone know if there is a web page that makes it possible to see how many fishes different characters have fished? I know the information is available under statistics under Armory, but I would like a page where I could search e.g. for the character with the most catches on the server etc.

Regards

i know off the boat at ratchet, right on the dock, i fished a shipwreck pool....right from the dock. it was about halfway down the dock on the right if you were coming off the ship. it also showed up as a yellow dot on my fish finder. It is distinguishable because it has the faint circle around it, like the chools of fish. where normal debris(I've seen it too) does not have the outlined perfect circle. To me, this is the distinguishing charachteristic. So, between the circle and the fish finder, you shoudl never mistake normal random debris for shipwreck fishable debris.

hope this helps

We probably need a list of pools that aren't really pools. These are indeed quest-related, and do not yield any special fish.

Curiously, when I first went out to check (El did that quest some time ago), the debris initially displayed the title "Shipwreck Debris". Then I logged off and back on (I'd forgotten the Elixir of Water Walking), and the mouse-over title did not display. So I'm not sure what triggers the mouse-over.

It's for the quest Recover the Cargo!; I don't know if you need to be on the quest to see the pools identified as "shipwreck debris" or not...

El, good one to add as a special wreckage type...

I took a flightpath from Ratchet to Tanaris and while flying I saw many multiples of Shipwreck Debris pools. They had a plank of wood sticking out of them. I'm going to try and get back to them, but I noticed I couldn't find it in a regular search of the site.

Anyone else seen or fished out of these?
