A trick I used to use (see "I know a fishing secret" post) allowed me to loot a trunk and if a Weather Beaten Journal was inside, the journal would remain in the trunk and I could sell the trunk + journal for a pretty good price.</p> <p>Well... I think something has changed in the last week or so.</p> <p>I sent my lvl 20 character fishing Mirkfallon last night and got a journal from the first trunk I fished. So I 'learned' the Find Fish 'spell' which would then allow my little trick to work.</p> <p>I fished 12 trunks but no journal. OK, bad luck, I suppose.</p> <p>So tonight, I spent about 1 hour 40 minutes and fished 16 trunks. No journal. If the odds are 25% that a trunk has the journal, then the chance that 28 trunks would not have one is infinitesimally small. Even if the chance was 10%, the odds would still be way less than 1% that I wouldn't find a journal.</p> <p>This has all happened in the last few days so either:<br /> 1) I am INCREDIBLY unlucky<br /> 2) Blizz patched or hot-fixed this little loop-hole :(<br /> 3) Or remotely, a lvl 20 has less of a chance than a lvl 30 (which I usually am when I fish Mirkfallon); but I don't think this is it.</p> <p>Any other ideas? I found this site by looking for more info on the fishing journal which enables the Fish Finder ability. I was, of course, looking to see if I could find another and sell it. That being said, I have perused the postings and think I know what to look for, so, thanks for that.<br /> I do have something to add: I found my Journal while fishing in Darkshore (Auberdine, right next to Bubba Gump in Floating Debris) within the 1st couple casts after getting the fishing ability.<br /> That would mean that it should have been a Tightly Sealed Trunk.<br /> So, I think you can add the Tightly Sealed Trunk to 'Journals can be found in Curious Crate, Heavy Supply Crate, Iron Bound Trunk, Mithril Bound Trunk and Watertight Trunk.'<br /> Anyway, finding the journal has really made fishing quite fun and interesting.<br /> Nice site, very useful. I just made Lvl 225 for fishing, and thanks to your site, I know how to progress in level. However, it is not visible when the crate is opened- the crate appears empty (no coins or items). This happened to my boyfriend, who had already learned Find Fish, while fishing in Stonetalon Mountains. I did not yet know Find Fish, and he traded the crate to me and I was able to loot and use the Weather-Beaten Journal that was inside.</p> <p>That is not clear in current information on this site, I hope that helps. </p>
