Hit the icebergs off the Kal'auk village in BT. Good respawn rate and not a lot of competition since they moved the Monsterbelly quest to Darlaran.
If you're a lowbie alliance, you can use water walking/riding to get there safely from Valliance Keep.

I understood that the turtle can also drop from Cataclysm pools. Do double-check, I'm not 100% sure. But if so, you're better off fishing in Cataclysm pools, the fish will be worth more.

So my guild is hosting a 2 day fishing contest to try to get people involved in helping to get the achievment and new fish feast. What I'm told is that it doesn't matter where you fish, as long as you fish in pools. I was thinking about fishing pools in Wrath as I never got the turtle mount but was wondering if anyone had any advice or tricks. Where might the most pools, or most respawns happen? Anywhere in the world!

Thanks for any input :)

TheTacoMan,
LOL....I wondered how long it would be before the name calling started. Thank you. I dont have to wonder anymore. First off, I am not an idiot. I am entitled to my opinion like anyone else. You obviously dont agree...Oh wait! Is that a "salty" title i see by your name. Why my my ...it sure is. (chuckle)

Flying to Dalaran and skipping content is not anything that we are talking about. Secondly, I didnt say I couldnt do Lurker Below and ZG, the point I was making was I shouldnt have to.

So how would like your "mercury lined hat" ...with a scoop of ice cream or maybe some motor oil to make it go down easier. Right now Alliakazham is reporting dragonfin angelfish at 58 gold per stack. On Hydraxis there are in the AH for 57g per stack. Blackened dragonfin is currently listed at 7g each or 140g per stack Its counterpart dragonfin filet is 3g shy of that...coming in at 137 gold per stack. The sad thing is no one or very very few people are going to pay that price. And yes the price will tumble and has over the last 2 weeks. People like yourself will cut the living crap out of it by underbidding it and the price will drop like a rock. This is what I was referring to. If the price gets too high, not only will people not buy, but instead it becomes economically feasible for them to now spend 10 mins and get there own. So there is a happy price that you try and maintain. But wait you can't do that because now there are tons more people out here who are fishing for achievement and dumping what they catch on the AH at a much reduced price continuing the spiral downward. The only thing in our favor is that people simply dont like to fish...AMEN! They will cook, but they dont like fishing...too boring for them. Goodie Goodie

Tsk tsk tsk...achievements are designed to do one thing...give the level 80 raid groups something to do while they cant get a raid or bored out of thier skull. That is all they were ever designed for. So how many week(s) did you spend getting the STV tourney, or the One that didnt get away...you know the rare than rare fishie. I would almost bet that you are one of "those" who on the second cast caught the dark herring while fishing for the turtle. You probably hit the tourney on your third or fourth try. Well Koodoos for you. Congratulations!

I am happy for you! But not all of us are that lucky. And when you really look at this journey, it really doesnt make sense to require a group or raid for fishing. It doesnt make sense to require something that is only once a week that lasts for 20 mins where some people cant attend at all and you are denying them the opt to get their hook wet. But they are selling and you are buying it that it is an "achievement" to exploit a loophole in the game mechanics and take advantage of those who could not attend the tourney. Now certainly these are all things you can do...but should you?

Please lets dont start with name calling. I value your opinion same as anyone else. At the very worst...lets just say we argree to disagree. :) When you have to resort to names then you have discredited your argument,

thanks for listening and thanks for posting

Let me get this straight, this guy is not complaining about the STV achievement, which most people who don't have salty complain about, but rather, the lurker below and the ZG one?

You CANNOT be serious.

Unless you are a gigantic looser, you will have at least 1 friend who plays world of war craft that is willing to make a raid group with you.

Saying that the solo guides that skip content to get to the fish is an exploit? Excuse me, but that's a rather dumb thing to say. When you are flying to Dalaran after finishing say, the daily fishing quest at the northern sea, do you stop and kill every single mob that is below you, that would have gotten in your path if you had not been on a flying mount? No? Well according to your logic, you are exploiting to skip content.

Also, you are complaining about the price of fish being too high? Are you MAD? First of all, if you can find me ANY server that sells a stack of Dragonfin for 160g, i will eat your obviously mercury lined hat. Secondly, why is this a bad thing? It means that you can undercut them and make lots of money. With more and more people taking up fishing due to the recent changes, the market is only heading in one direction. Down.

Lastly, these fishing achievements are just that, ACHIEVEMENTS! You have to actually Achieve something to get them. If you are really, REALLY agaisnt skipping content in instances, maybe you should talk to your guild and ask them if anyone is up for a classic/burning crusade dungeon master run? You can clear SSC and ZG with about 10 lvl 80's, and aswell as getting your achievement, you'll have a great deal of fun, and get to experience some content that you obviously never had before

Dark Elf with all due respect, you are an idiot.

Shimarenda,
I truly thank you for your concern. And its not misplaced...i AM frustrated beyond belief and all doesnt have to do with this title...but rather the fishing achievements as a whole. The title is but a bone to pacify me provided I dont have to jump thru too many hoops to get it. I have read several tuts that talk about how to solo the instances and I most certainly appreciate the fine work these people did and took upon themselves to share that info with us. But there proves my point. There method in my humble opinion is exploiting a loop hole in the raid system.

Mr. Pinchy is not an easy "crawdad" to come by...takes time and patience and a flying mount ...and a little luck to snare that grumpy crustecean and thats as should be. But it is SOLO...I do not have to pester someone to join a raid group with me or nag my guildies into it. It is well within the realm of game play for TBC.

When WoLK came out ...i financed a great deal of my first two level 80s with nothing but fishing! After that...two things happened to destroy the fish market, the achievements gave too many people the opportunity to find out how easy it was to snag 5 stacks of dragonfin in an hour and sell it for 40g on the AH. It wasnt long till they did the math and 200g an hour aint chump change. Given that exposure...came the greed mongers. Why only 40? Why not 80? Or 160g per stack of dragonfin? The achievements gave us "exposure" and i dont see too much of anything else...all things consider.

I agree a little bit with Dark Elf.

Personally I only need to win the STV turnament. But I am also a raider, so to get into a raid group, and do Lurker Below, was not a problem for me.

But why should an achievement for fishing be dependent on what level you are?

If your not level 70 you cant enter.

I agree that the fishing achievements should all be possible to do alone.

Dark Elf,

You don't need to get an entire raid group. You only need to have one person form a party with you, then you can convert your party to a raid. That person doesn't have to come to the instance with you. There are guides here to get to the place in the instances you need to be.

Sorry you're frustrated,

I am gonna throw my two cents into the hat as well.

Personally, up till about 20 minutes ago...I was gung ho to get the salty achievement. Now, I could care less. They have taken something I enjoyed and turned it to something I despise. And here is why:

First off, fishing has never ever been a "group" sport. To stuff an acheivement behind an instance negates the whole concept of fishing in the first place. You would have to create a specific raid group with eveyone understanding what "your" goals are...dont know about anyone else but the raid groups I have been in are not about to sit around and wait till you catch a fish...lol

Secondly, luck has always played an important part of fishing...even in real life. So, while i dont catagorically dismiss the STV tourney as part of the acheivement, I do think it could be overhauled to at least let people get thier hook wet.

Last be not least and this is where the rub starts, all those who already have the Salty title...what i have just stated is not gonna go over real well and i understand why...completely. Any change and it would cheapen or lessen your achievement. But even you would have to agree that LUCK played a huge part in your ever completing this acheivement...and I am not talking about "fishing" luck ...I am talking "lottery" luck. That "1 in 13 wilth all the zeroes behind it type" luck. But look at this way. If I have to go in and exploit a loophole in the game mechanics in order to win...doesnt that just scream volumes!

Ok I am off my soap box. To each who STILL wants to pursue this, good luck to ya cause you are going to need it. Now I will stand over with the group that says enough is enough

Thanks for listening

There are still no fish in the North Sea, nor any sightings of fish like the Baby Coralshell Turtle.

Cooking is still incomplete. I'll write a guide based on what was in the final beta version, but it's messy: All the recipes close to 450 skill are "green" (low chance of a skill-up). Like most professions, there is nothing available at skill 450 yet.
