I’m one of those people who likes everyone to get along. I don’t expect it to happen all the time, but I like it when it does. And I’ll happily go out of my way to help it along when I can. So the whole “we don’t like you because your on the opposite faction” thing just doesn’t work for me. In fact, some of my most enjoyable/amusing moments in WoW have been when someone from the opposite faction and I have managed to team up and work together without being able to talk to each other. So no, I’d never do well on a PvP server. *smiles*

I decided to take Kahless’ advice and I deleted one of my three year old bank alts and made a blood elf hunter named Swamprat. Two days later he’s level 20 and has his fast run speed. Now I can send messages to the horde side if need be. Plus I’ll have limited access to horde pets and other items I might like to send across the faction wall either for myself or to sell on the auction house.

I don't know how much of that is really necessary. If you're concerned about an opposite faction member fishing in the wrong spot, and he/she is unresponsive to "/no /point /beckon," it's out of your hands, really.

You tell (Target) NO. Not going to happen.
You point over yonder.
You beckon (Target) over.

It makes sense to me, anyway.

Maybe we should petition Blizzard to allow us to make notes using a limited number of symbols and be able to trade that note with anyone, from either faction.

So in your case you'd have a picture of a fish and another of one person following another, or something like that. Hyroglyphics (sp?) ftw!

On a more serious note, it's simply too bad they don't have better emotes. Like /followme would appear like this in the chat box:

"It appears that Yohaun wants you to follow him."

I actually do play on a PvE server. But all my slots are full.
One of the many disadvantages to being a packrat. *smiles*

However, now that I have my own guild bank tab I might put one of my low level bank alts out to pasture and create a horde character. A couple of my bank alts are like level seven. But they’ve been there for over three years so I’m kind of used to them. It’ll almost be a sad thing to delete one of them. Oh well, it still sounds like a good plan. And it’ll be easier than jumping up and down like a fool in front of the next horde character trying to get them to move. And if I do it soon I’ll be able to get him a pet during Children’s Week.

I just log off, log into my horde alt and whisper them.
One of the MANY advantages of a PvE server.

There are times when our inability to communicate with the opposite faction is a royal pain in the backside.

Blackhand seems to be stuck in a “one that got away” loop. I’d much rather it be a “crocs in the city” loop and have a chance to get another pet. But no, our server has seen that quest exactly two times. Instead we get to spend our time in Nagrand. *sigh*

Anyway, I’ve gotten into the habit of helping those fishermen and fisherwomen who stand too far to the right on the shore of Skysong Lake, next to the horde base. They have fallen for Blizzard masochistic little joke and have no chance of ever catching their quest fish. This morning the latest victim of this cruel joke was a female troll. She was standing at the foot of the mountain, about as far away as one can get from the quest fish.

I was fishing with my male NE hunter at the time. I ran over to her, jumped up and down, pointed at her and then faced the direction I wanted her to go and pointed over yonder. I then ran over to the right area and cast my line. She didn’t follow. I repeated the process. She still didn’t move. So I went back to fishing. I caught my quest fish and turned it in.

I logged in Cashara, my female dwarf. When she got to the lake the troll was still fishing in the same spot. So I repeated my process again with Cashara. This time the troll actually turned my way. Maybe it’s because my character was female. Maybe it was because the troll was getting very frustrated by this time. Whatever the case, I repeated the process once again and she followed. When she stopped still too far to the right I tried again. And again she followed me. When she stopped within the quest area I cheered her. I caught my fish a few casts later, cheered and flew off to turn it in.

I learned two things this morning. One, I really dislike our inability to community to across the faction barrier. And two, I really need to learn some more effective emotes for the next time this happens.
