No Problem, and thanks for linking the site, I completely forgot to in my post.

While I agree that the materials needed for raiders and casual 'food creation' fishing should be lower, I know quite a few people on my server (and everyone here on the site) is really excited about the 'extreme' fishing we might find in Wrath. I for one am a little miffed that I have all this +fishing, so much so that lures are practically a thing of the past (even though I have about 5000 of them from the fishing quest). I'd like to see a special area with special BoP drops specifically for fishermen like us who want to do some really hardcore 'I can barely catch a fish here even with over 700 skill!' fishing.

As far as the changes to the mechanics of fishing and making it more interactive: The thing I loved most about fishing in WoW is that it's something relaxing I can do while enjoying a good audiobook, working on my fishing website (back up btw), talking on the phone with friends, etc. I hope they don't make it so interactive that you have to be paying 100% attention to it. I'm always nervous when they start making changes to the things I love as they are!

On the other hand, I was really impressed with how avid Jon was about fishing, and how he was proud of having won the tourney and the fact that he's a crazy fishing guy. This really bodes well for our favorite profession. You know, these guys work on these projects for an extremely long time, I'm always amazed that they really enjoy what it is that they're working on. It's great to hear them get excited about upcoming changes (and also worried that they might give something away!).

Thanks Petre.

It's great to hear this topic being discussed seriously. There's been tangible "love" for fishing in recent patches, but I never expected to see it up there with all the primary professions.

It will be interesting to see what emerges from the Wrath beta on mechanics, and whether they keep fishing relaxing, while will making it slightly less passive.

The comment on Golden Darter and Furious Crawdad is also interesting. Both were tough to catch when The Burning Crusade was released, and they eased the difficulty with subsequent patches. I presume the adjusted balance for those indicates the less "extreme of a swing" approach in Wrath: Something that will be essential to raiders (in particular), but won't be a pain to catch.

Fishing was mentioned somewhat indepth in the last episode (#4) of the Blizzcast. Some interesting little bits in there. See the pasted transcript below:
__________________________
Drysc: Moving on, we having Fishing. I think in theory it appeals to a lot of players, but do you have any thoughts on the profession and where it could be headed?

Jon LeCraft: Yeah, we’ve definitely had a lot of brainstorming on Fishing lately. And I should also add that I love fishing. I have two 375 Fishing characters...

Drysc: So you’re insane...

Jon LeCraft: ...and I’ve won the tournament multiple times. Yeah, I’m crazy, but I definitely have a lot of love for fishing and want to do a lot of cool things for it. I think the biggest thing right now is going to be the mechanic. It still isn’t… it’s just not that fun, and we really want the act of fishing to be fun. Because the fun part of fishing right now is the, kind of the exploratory part of “Oh, what fish can I here, what weird thing can I catch?”, and we definitely want to continue with that but we don’t want the mechanic to be quite as ... I don’t know, you’re just not very attentative while you’re doing it.

Drysc:	Personally I kind of watch a movie while I’m fishing, and I turn the sound up and listen for the little bobber sound, and right click ... it’s not necessarily “fun” but also kind of… I can auto-pilot it a little bit.

Jon LeCraft: Yeah, relaxing but I think more interactive is going to be the way to go. Also something that happened and worked out really well in Burning Crusade is the unique fish that cook into the types of food you can’t get anywhere else. The Golden Darters and the Spicy Crawdads, those really helped keep fishing relevant. We’ll do some more of those, although maybe not to that extreme of a swing.
