The rules have changed recently so that it's not nearly so important to a keep a stock of pet food around (just fighting will keep them happy), but I've always used fish eating pets just because it simply seems So Wrong for a hunter to be buying pet food. To get the best food for my pet I will just go to Hellfire Peninsula and kill some of those Vultures beneath Temple of Telhamat. They drop a lot of meat which you can cook into <a href="http://www.wowhead.com/?item=33874">Kibler's Bits</a>.
