The firefin snapper is unique among other fish due to it poscessing a gland which secreats(sp?) a highly flamable type of oil. </p> <p>This is used both as a method of defense and also as a way to catch prey, when it is injected the oil cooks the victim internally. This oil destroys any harmfull bactaria which might kill the firefin.</p> <p>The oil itself can be extracted by a trained alchemist and is highly prized by practitioners of the arcane arts due to its ability to amplify the power of fire based spells.</p> <p>The oil can also be mixed with the flame retardent liquids produced in fire breathing reptiles, this creates a highly fire resistant elixer which can be used to survive highly volcanic locations. </p>
