WOOH! I have to say, this wasn't as bad as, say, One that Didn't Get Away. Incidentally, I only need the Fishing Extravaganza for Salty, now. The thing that CAN drive you mad is the idea of that one, solitary coin you're missing. Typically, fishing for something rare means fishing up crap until that one, solitary lucky moment... Think of the Fountain that way. I.e., whether you're fishing up another gold coin is irrelevant, you're waiting for that one specific gold coin you want. (Well, other gold coins are only relevant in terms of giving you a buff.) I love the Rare coin you get at the end of this... Totally useless, except that it gives you a /roll 2 with style. :) And it's pretty unique and different, which is what fishing is all about! The achievements for silver and copper coins date to 11-18-2008 on my character. The gold coin achievement dates to 12-15-2008. Nearly a month to catch one coin and I fished nearly every day for 30 minutes, sometimes more. On the bright side, the very same day after getting done with the coin master I went down into the sewers and caught the rat after about 10 minutes. Compensates a little for the extreme painfulness of the coin master. There was another guy fishing there that arrived shortly after I'd finished Silver and Gold, and he just needed Sylvanas' Gold coin. He caught Inigo 7 or 8 times while we fished. I caught his Sylvanas twice. Finally caught my Inigo's and went to do my Kalu'ak dailies before the daily quests reset; came back an hour later and this guy was still fishing for Sylvanas. I landed and exclaimed about how he still hadn't caught it; when he finished that cast, he got the Coin Master achievement. (He thanked me for coming back and being his good luck. It was the very last coin before that wonderful Salty title, and after seeing how anxious and disappointed I was getting, my girlfriend suggested "what if you move just a few feet away and try fishing??" I figured it wouldn't make a difference but I did it anyway, and lo-and-behold, the very NEXT cast, what do I fish up???? Argual's Gold Coin!!! To all those anglers out there, just hang in there. Kind of hard to tell how many had active gold coins at the same time, but with five fishing in the same tiny fountain next to the trainer, I was getting about 80-90% coins for a minute or so. Happened repeatedly when there were a bunch fishing at the same time. Biggest drawback is the hassle of trying to watch your lure with that many lures in the same pool. Couldn't rely on the sound at all. I tried fishing the fountain for the first time last night. I don't use add-ons, so I have no stats, but I was there for probably three hours, on and off. What struck me was the behavior. Fishing (STV fishing comp aside) used to be a bit genteel, but I observed all kinds on people rolling up and parking *on* other players, and non-fishers were delighting in "griefing" us by thrashing about in the fountain while mounted on Kodos or Mammoths or purposefully passing between the anglers and their lures. Is this usual on a PvE server?
