[Fishing] 3.0.8 changes to fishing daily quests

[Crocolisks in the city] has changed a bit in 3.0.8, and could annoy many.

First off, as with the other fishing dailies, it takes multiple casts to reel in the quest fish. It took me 12 casts to get my Baby croc. I was fishing in Orgrimmar for Old crafty since I heard his drop rate increases to an almost guarentee. However, in those 12 casts. Old crafty did not appear once. It seems Blizzard have fixed this "bug" so having the quest will no longer drop Old crafty at an increased rate. This means, as far as I can see, people will have to go back to grinding for the Elusive fish of The Capital cities.

The [Shrimpin' Ain't Easy] quest, against my first impression, does not drop on every catch now. It will use the drop rate of Barbed Gill Trout as it replaces that fish on the catch table.

The [Felblood Fillet] quest now requires multiple casts. Caught one in 15 casts.

The [Bait Bandits] quest also requires multiple casts. Caught on in 7 casts (Confirmed by "Salty" Norrinir)

The quest [The one that got away] requires multiple casts. (Posted by Norrinir)

Seems the only quest really effected is [crocolisks in the city] in relation to Old crafty.

I did Shrimpin' Ain't Easy today and, as it was prior to the patch, I do NOT get Bloated Barbed Gill Trout with every catch.

The dailies are now as they should be IMHO. Getting the quest item on the first cast was just silly.

As for the Old Crafty bug, I'm hoping it's fixed. The quest is intended to be hard (and I say that without having caught Old Crafty or Ironjaw).

I can confirm One that got away and Bait bandits. Both required more casts than one.

Technically, it's just a bug fix, but we got pretty much used to it. I miss it already, fishing dailies drive me mad, 5 months of trying and still no hat and I doubt this will help it.

I ,luckily, got the hat during the previous patch. But, since 3.0.8, the dailies take a lot longer. I used to get the baby crockolisk on first cast in the mage pool at IF every time. Last try, however, I had numerous casts in IF with no luck and finally went off to Stormwind (where the quest actually says to go, LOL!) and got one there on the second cast.

I did the Shrimping Ain't Easy today, and I got a bloated on ALMOST every cast. Seven casts and the quest was done. Four bloated had 2 a piece, two bloated had 1 each... and the seventh cast that wasn't a bloated (not in that order, of course).

Sounds like they've reverted the dailies to back what they used to be. I remember when all of teh sudden the quest drops were first cast and getting really excited, then I realized after a couple of days something had changed......

I caught Old Crafty twice this week. These were my first two catches of the shark-like swimmer. On 2/16/09 and 2/19/09. In both cases I was on Old Man Barlo's Daily quest of "Crocolisks in the Sewers" and had decided to keep fishing after catching the Baby Crocolisk to raise my fishing skill. I had raised my skill 2-3 points and bang there was the Crafty one. Same situation on the second day.

The crafty bug has been fixed. I did the achievement the "old-fashioned way" on my main, but really didn't want to spend another 400+ casts for an alt. I did the Wrath Gate achievement in Dragonblight, got the follow-up that phases you to non-hostile in Ogrimmar, took the portal, and headed to the pools in the valley to fish. (Alliance if you hadn't already guessed). I had the crocs in the city daily, tried the "bug" option, and it obviously didn't work. I had a total of 377 casts for him and twice ignored the croc catch for the daily within the first 50 or so catches. I finally accepted the croc on the third fish-up and still took nearly 300 more casts to get Crafty. Happy it's done.
