[Fishing] 5 Time STV Tourny Winner "Master Angler Butternugs"?????

First of all let me say that this is a terriffic website. If fishing was easy everyone would do it. Some how over the years as we search for catfish to crawdad, this website had eluded me. Blizzard has always found some way to reward the people who really enjoyed to fish, especially when there are those who consider it boring and pointless. Well today I think i did something that I believe has never been done before. I won the Stranglethorn Vale fishing tournament for the 5'th time!!! I had heard a rumor that Blizzard will be awarding a title in the expansion "Master Angler" to 5 time winners of the contest.

    1. Is this True?
    2. Would it matter if you had won on different servers? "I won twice on Ysondre and three times on Tichondrius.
    3. Does Blizzard Keep track of who wins the event?

I look forward to fishing in the expansion and gaining the achievements that we have all drooled about since they were posted. If anyone can answer these questions or has any information please repost.

    Hopefully Soon To Be
    Master Angler Butternugs

I haven't heard anything about this, but 5 times? Winning once is hard enough, let alone twice for both rewards.

Five times? That has to be next to impossible...

Its 5 times over about 2 1/2 years though, it wasnt easy and u better believe i played every Sunday.

No it's not true, based on what I can see in the PTR.

You get an Achievement for winning the contest once.
That achievement doesn't count additional wins.

I have the "Master Angler of Stranglethorn" Achievement having won the contest twice, but there's no title for that.

Titles are all at the bottom of a long list of Achievements.
Each achievement explains what you need to do to accomplish it.
The only fishing title is "Salty"
See El's page on Fishing Achievements here...

    2. Achievements only count for the character that achieves them.
If you've transferred to/from another realm, your achievements will follow you.

    3. No, but your character has a hidden history of quests completed.
If the case of the fishing contest though, I believe it only looks to see if you have one of the rewards from the contest. If you don't have the pole or the trinket, you may not get the achievement.

If Blizz decides to give us no way to get a "Master Angler" title, their will be a lot of upset people.

Although I know a lot of use would love the title of "Master Angler", I would be very happy if they didn't make you win the tournament multiple times. I'm also happy they removed the realm first titles as well since they just seemed to punish people for living in the wrong time zone.

Not sure where I read it, but someone in the forums here has stated that he's won the tournament 8 times, so your achievement of winning 5 times is not unique. Besides, the general consensus among players it seems is that after winning twice per character, you retire from the tournament. (I still fish during the tournament in an attempt to get the rare fish, but even if i did get 40 fish before the winner is announced, i wouldn't turn them in since i've won it twice on each of my characters.)

I think the title of "Salty" is going to be a hard enough achievement in and of itself for most fisher-people to accomplish and so that will be just as special a title as "Master Angler".

Personally, I think the fishing experience in Wrath will be much more varied and thought out than it was in Burning Crusade. While the addition of new fish for cooking was to be expected, the addition of a new pet acquired only through fishing (and NOT reliant on luck / limited pools / wishes) is a change for the better. Also, as El has so nicely stated, the fishing in the new city of Dalaran is going to be much more varied than anything I think we've seen before with the coins in the fountain and the vials / potions / fish in the sewers. So while it's easy to look at what we didn't get, i think it's more important to look at what we are going to be getting.

I wouldn't even want this. It's not that hard to win the contest more than two times. It just means you have no problem taking the rod or trinket from people who haven't gotten the rewards.
