So I started fishing like last week - I was about 17 skill then so I leveled to 150-ish. So I decided to go to Orgrimmar as an Alliance to go for Old Crafty and got him within 50 casts :o. A couple days later I caught the one in Ironforge and caught him in about 100-150 casts... Just now on my very first Northrend daily I looted a Jeweled Fishing Pole. :O All this in about 5 days.
Anyway I'm just gonna go catch a sea turtle mount on my first cast bai.

There are many things to fish up. Some will be very easy, some will be very hard. It took longer for me to get the coin achievement than it took to get the turtle.
Out of curiosity: which Northrend fishing daily quest did you do? As far as I know even with the +100 skill lure attached you'd still be getting grey junks 99% of the time in most Northrend zones if you have 250 skill now.
Mikado, the Northrend dailies are possible (at least Jewel in the Sewer) at less than 250 skill - with Seth's Pole and a +100 lure on my priest alt, who is just around 250 fishing, I make sure to do it every time it's up (poor thing cant fly in Northrend yet, and has very few flight points).
It takes longer, for sure, but it's doable :)
Oh a whim, I decided to train fishing on my new 80 DK. ( /shame) As soon as I picked up journeyman fishing in Dal, the daily quest popped up as available. So, just for fun, I decided to see if I could complete it. The daily was 'Blood is thicker', so I thought I might have a shot.
It took 2 trips to spawn the pools, but I turned my quest in with a total fishing skill of 16. I caught lots of junk, but the Bloodtooth Frenzies did occasionally pop in with the junk fish. I did get 1 Borean Man O' War as well.
For the record, I got a almost 11 gold, 4 pygmy oil, the Steamy Romance Novel, and 4 deviates.
