I have a question. I've been fishing in the sewers with auto loot on for some time now... I've also fished for "The one that didn't get away" with auto loot on. No luck with ratty and the rare fish yet. Could this be the reason why? I thought auto loot auto confirmed for you as well.

Using autoloot won't affect your fishing luck in any way.
You will still get the confirmation box pop up when you do catch a rare,so just be sure to click it before recasting.A lot of anglers have been caught out by that after a long session of trying for rares :)
Your best bet for getting the OTDGA is to fish somewhere with as few fish types as possible,as this will increase the likelyhood of each catch being the rare.I personally went for the mudsnapper in Crystal Lake and got it in 100 catches,but even that was fast compared to a lot of people.

Yeah,I was thinking in terms of Mr Pinchy,the Extravaganza rares and Old Crafty/Ironjaw,rather than the OTDGA rares.
I posted in a hurry,before running out the door to catch my bus to work :)
i also went crystal lake for the mudsnapper (as a horde) and got it in about 200 casts.
auto loot wont affect your catch rate, nor will it auto accept the BoP confirmation, so be careful if using auto recast...
the sewer rat (despite not seeming it) has a low drop rate, and all of the fish for the one that didnt get away have extremely low drop rates
i would advise crystal lake as there are many people who have reported catching it within a hundred casts (down to as low as SIX!) because the mudsnapper has only 3 varients... compared to the many of others.. also the bay of storms is a trick card
although it has 3 diffrent fish to be caught (assumingly increasing drop rate) the drop rate is determined by weighted fish - their drop rates kinda marge so you have a 0.5% change or something of catching ANY weighted fish - as a result you're acutally lessening the chance you get of catching the one you want as there are more than 3 times as many non max weighted fish and their drop rates are higher than those of max weighted fish

I found a solution to the BOP box and auto-loot. I found a mod on curse called NoBoPWarning and gave it a try last night. SO awesome. http://wow.curse.com/downloads/wow-addons/details/no-bo-pwarning.aspx . I was looking through the source it basically fakes that you are in a party and let's the UI confirm the catch.
i think the threat is more about using bots (the only reason why soemon won't press yes)
