[Fishing] Back after a year off...

So I took a year off from WoW. Started a new Torgon on a new server that some people I knew IRL were playing on. Of course being the fan of fishing that I have always been I grabbed my pole and started at it. The new "junk" catches threw me for a bit of a loop, still not sure what I think of that.

Anyway, I got to 250 skill and lvl 45ish and decided to test out my luck at the STV Tourney this weekend.

Back in the day, the tourney took between 20-30 minutes to win. It was done in 16 minutes.

What has changed? Are there more pools (I fished in the area that I have won in twice back on BronzeBeard). Is there something that is making fishing faster (those around me didn't seem to be pulling fish in any faster than I was). Was this just a "fast" week?

    Just currious.

Welcome back! These 2 articles summarise most of the changes:

    Hey, Torgon. :)

I've been doing the fishing contest for some time now and I've noticed the same thing. Winning times do seem to be much shorter these days. I, on the other hand, don't seem to catch fish any faster than I used to do. I've tried all the hints on this forum to no avail. Last weekend there was only sparse competition on my server and I was still only at 33 fishes when the winner was called. I had gotten many "non-tasty fish" right from the middle of pools - blackmouth, firefin, stonescale and ... yes ... stranglekelp. I stayed to catch 2 more tasty fish to round out my turn-in and went on my way. *** sigh ***
