(Just so this topic does not immediately de-rail (and become the Extravaganza-in-Salty topic), FlipsideWL appears to be referring to a reduced catch rate on rare contest fish. I'm not sure whether that has changed or not. It always was incredibly variable, and often 2 hour fishing would result in nothing. There certainly is a lot more competition for pools, which has changed the contest difficulty in the last few months.)

I'm not so sure this is the case either. I haven't caught a lucky fish the past two tournaments either (I fish for the full two hours since I'm still after my boots) but it has happened to me before, even far worse than before. I remember not even knowing the rare fishes existed for the first ten or so tournaments I participated in back when it was first held, let alone catch one.

I'm willing to guess there's people on the flip side too, who would have caught a bunch of rare fishes the last few tournaments...

What's your take on this, fellow anglers?

[P.S.] I just read my own post and noticed the 'flip side' comment. It's not meant as reference to the original poster's name, it just happened -.-'

Of all the times I participated in the contest, I only caught rare fish once. The week after I won the contest itself, I caught the fish for the boots and the fish for the fishing line. I considered myself incredibly fortunate, since I had the Weather-beaten Hat and only needed those two. But my take on the issue here is that the rare fish have always been, well, rare.

    Hello all

    Thanks for your replys above.

After reading and doing all the formats recomended, and catching 125-158 tastey fish to no joy or a rare fish, is my fishing lvl over kill of 587 with buffs ect ?

more looking for advice am i doing somthing wrong.?

Is your fishing overkill with 587? short answer, yes. You don't need to use lures, that doesn't affect what you catch. You only need 225 to never have getaways in STV, so stop wasting lures.

Thank you for at least translating that wall of text he posted on the forums into English, el.

Flipside, you're overkilling on fishing buffs. You only need to get to 0 "Your fish got away" messages (at skill level 225) and you're golden in STVFE. You clearly have that even if you equipped a garden-variety 0-bonus fishing pole with no gear and no lures, which is precisely what I advise you to do in STVFE. The time you spend putting the lure on your pole is 4-10 seconds during the event that you are never getting back, and if you're on a PvP server you're better off wearing real gear instead of the fishing gear.
