[Fishing] Blackwind Lake

  1. rakoth <Angler>, 1 year ago:

I recently obtained my druid flight form (yeah!) and have been making runs to Lake Jorune and Lake Ere'Nora to fish Highland Mixed Schools. Because I generally play early in the morning I never see anyone there and have successly caught a couple of stacks of Furious Crawdads and Golden Darters, and, yesterday, Mr. Pinchy.

Yesterday I ventured over to Blackwind Lake. I expected to have to deal with some mobs but I didn't realize that there is an elite that wanders around. I didn't have time to stick around to see what his walking pattern is.

Is this the only elite up there and are there areas that are fairly safe for fishing (I certainly don't mind killing regular mobs to fish).

Yes there is a few of those elites wandering but besides those all the mobs are non-elite.

When I first got to Blackwind Lake, I was pretty intimidated by the elites as well. Being a resto druid in t2 at the time, I definitely couldn't solo one. By the way, they're immune to nature (no roots or cyclone).

There are multiple elites, but they are all the same model - giant wandering tree. They path by practically all of the pools other than those fished from the island in the center. However, you can generally avoid them or run away from them with decent success. First of all, their walking makes the ground shake a bit, similar to the roaming elites in Hellfire Peninsula. This can alert you to pop flight form before you're stuck in combat. Secondly, I don't think they're fond of swimming, so going aquatic form and swimming away is a good option if you can't use travel form or flight form to get away. On my server, the elites are regularly solo farmed by some feral druids and warlocks with relative ease. It's certainly nice to have someone killing them, if that's an option for you.

All in all, the elites aren't so hard that you can't get away from them, so I wouldn't worry about them too much. Hope this helps!

Thanks for the information. Your reference to Fel Reaver brought back some bad memories of waiting a tad too long before clearing the area once the ground started shaking.

There actually is one other Elite in Skettis. Not hard to stay clear from but kind of cloose to one of the pools that spawn in same location allways. It is Alluvion a water element.

    Alluvion

I ventured up to Blackwind again this morning and immediately found three pools near the island. I then found three more by the east shore. The wandering elite tree came by but I saw it in plenty of time to stealth and let it pass.

As Oberweiss said, yes, you cant Nature Grasp or root, but frozt mages can actuly freeze it to the ground, aswell as u can "Intimidating Shout" it as a warrior. no kidding those mages and warlocks keep soloing them for theyr precious Herbing.. And yes.. it gives LOTS of rare herbs! As often like, 3-4 Felweed and maybe a lichen flower etc.. :D
