I finally won yesterday on the zg rep island. It seems the lvl req on the boots now has reduced the twinks to zero (as i guess some are still after the hat).
Has anyone else noticed this trend?

Ok fairy snuff, I am a fool and didnt realise there had been a nerf to them.
Though only till a few weeks ago, I still noticed a high amount of twinks. Which has been slowly declining. It was only this week on my server, that there was non at all.
But again I admit my stupidity. I mistook a comment on wowhead, and thought it was a change done on the last patch.
Oh well my fault for writting somthing when half asleep and lacking caffine.
I've tried the Extravaganza for the first time today and there were 5 twinks on Yojamba isle. I don't know how it was used to be but they sure aren't a few. Then again, maybe I got unlucky.
I think you were just unlucky, Ainel. In 7 weeks of competing in this tournament, I saw a total of 1 twink, and they only fished for one tournament (I guess they got the fish by the time the pools despawned at 4 PM).
Yesterday the twinks were out in full force on my server after the extravaganza was won. I have the pole and hook already so I don't start to fish until the winner is announced, but then it was munchkin city. I was already getting annoyed by bunches of them jumping on the pools I was fishing when one of them demanded to know why I was even there since the contest had ended.
Once I have a spool of eternium line I'm never going back. Really they should put a level requirement on the hat as well.
Never going back again? I think at one point an additional feature will be added to the Extravaganza, don't you think?
Yeah, I'd go back if they added some new stuff :)
What would be nice would be a second fishing contest, perhaps with a slightly different format and some more or better gear that would get you high enough to fish anywhere in Northrend without consumables.
I can't see level 19 characters surviving long in Dragonblight without an army of escorts and if Blizzard did it right the gear should have a minimal requirement of level 60 anyway.

If nothing in Northrend requires 575+ fishing then I already achieved this.
- Weather-Beaten Fishing Hat: +80 fishing
- Enchanted Gloves: +2 fishing
- Nat Pagle's Extreme Anglin' Boots: +5 fishing
- Arcanite Fishing Pole + High Test Eternium Line: +45 fishing
Total = +132 fishing
450 + 132 = 582 fishing skill without consumables.

Good point.
I currently have the Lucky Fishing Hat which gives the same +5 base bonus, but I forgot about the +75 reusable lure bit.
So my (wrong) calculation was 450 + 57 = 507 which still needed a +75 lure.
But I'd still like another fishing contest anyway :)
