[Fishing] Catching fish every every 2nd cast

    Sorry if this question has been answered elsewhere, I've had a look on the site and also googled it and couldn't find an answer.

    Is it the normal mechanic of fishing that you catch something every second cast?

    I decided to level fishing/cooking as I was bored of just levelling my character. In the last day or two I have managed to get fishing from 150-260.

    Is it possible to catch something every cast, or will it always be every second cast?

    you should be CATCHING something everytime, however you will not get a skill point everytime. The higher your fishing goes the more casts to gain a point is a good general rule.

    Hmmm I must be doing something wrong because I simply can't catch something every cast. I catch something every 2nd cast and currently skill up every 8 catches, or about 16 casts.

    What am i doing wrong?

    • Precisely where you are fishing?
    • What your personal fishing skill is?
    • What bonuses (if any) you are gaining from gear, lures, etc?
