[Fishing] Catching the rat in one cast

    Hello, I am new here, and I have a char on mazriogs server, a lvl 80 orc warrior named Ironslayer, and at lvl 76 or so I went to fish in Dalaran with just 320 fishing skill, aftear realising that with this skill I can't catch anything I stopped fishing for a while.
    But as I was doing my daily mushroom cooking quest I found out a strange pot in the seweres, surprise, it was the kalu'ak fishing potion, so I went fast to the sewer fishing spot, after using my nat pagle 25 skill pole and a 100bait I caught that rat in my first try.
    Happily I continued fishing for the whole 10 minutes to see what I can find and to increase my skill some more, after 4 catches I caught the rat again. Is that a potion bug or just plain ol luck? I don't know, but I suggest you guys try that too if you didn't catch the big furry rat yet.

    Anyways, recently I had a wonderful stretch of luck. I finally located the 2 deep ocean pools to finsih off northrend angler, so decided to hearth back to dalaran. Was going to go do shat fishing daily but decided to head down to the sewers for some more futile casting.

    Up to then I had cast between 800-1000 times and no luck. On the way in to the sewers came across an UB elix. When I got down to the crows, decided to fish from the single boat (since I had seen some posts about it here) Anyways, popped the elixir and got the fishing form/buff. Every other one I had used was the wasp form...(fun fishing while flying!)

    On my 5th or 6th cast, I got my sewer rat. So...I think that the form (or the additional +50) may cut the ol rng demons down. Normally I was fishing with 450 skill + 130 (fishhook, rod,and hat) fo 580 skill. Form put me at 630...so...on to something here?

    As a final sweetness for the night I finally got the fishing line from shat's daily lol

    It is deffinetly the form, cause I had like 320 fishing + 100lure + 25 fishpole + 3 truesilver line, that's 448 fish skill. + 50 from the form = 498
    So I guess the form is like +50 fishing skill and + 90% to make the rng work in your favor. :D

    So guys, go searching for pots and start fishing with the power of the kalu'ak.

    Well, after reading about the Underbelly Elixir in this thread I remembered I had 6 of them. So I logged on and jumped down to the sewers.

    Frist pot gave be the fishing buff - woo hoo. 10 mins later....no rat (I also had 630 fishing skill)

    Second pot, gave me the buff also....10 mins later....no rat :(

    Either, I'm really unlucky (7000+ for Ironjaw and 3 Pinchys with no pet make me think I am) but I don't know if the pot has anything to do with it.

    I'm going to use the rest of them - I'll report back.

    Hmmm, odd. A week ago I tried farming the rat with no Underbelly elixir and after a few hours I gave up. Had to raid anyways.

    But after reading this thread, I spent about 25 minutes with an Underbelly Elixir (that's two and one half elixirs) and 635 fishing, and boom... Got it. Had an audience of fishermen/women clapping for me too (although a nice ego boost, completely irrelevant).

    Coincedence? I think so. But since fishing is definately about luck, I'd say take the time to fish with the UBE effect on. I can't say for sure if there's a direct coorelation or not, but why not amirite?

    12 more Underbelly Elixir later and I only got the fishing buff 3 times. Each time I fished with 640 skill. No Rat

    (the other buffs were seeing mages 3 times and wasp 6 times)

    Time to search for more Elixirs........
