[Contests] Choosing best location?

    Hey guys,

So it was my first time competing in the contest last Sunday, to work on my Salty title... (doesn't Salty Jelly sound cool? :D)

Needless to say, I lost with 30 fish when the winner was announced at around 18th minute.

Even though I did make some silly mistakes last week, like catching some fish from outside of the school by bad casting etc. , I also want to revise my location choosing strategy..

Last week I stayed on Yojamba all the time. There was basically only one person except me, who eventually gave up and left so I had the island all to myself for the last 5 minutes before the winner was announced. There were no twinks whatsoever...The schools on Yojamba were appearing at a regular pace, but I rarely saw more than one at a time.

From what I could see, there was around 20-25 people on Ally side competing in the contest, probably similar amount no Horde side.
I know it may vary from server to server, but I was wondering, whether generally speaking it is more efficient to start in a "many pools, many people" zone, or "less pool, less people" zone...

    What do you think?

You're always best off in the less people more pools zone but of course that doesn't happen often. Every server and even every week's contest is different. I've only done it about 6-7 times (Sundays are normally family days) and only just won for the first time this last sunday. Every time I've come close (1 time, had quest completion window open and someone else won) and the time I won I got lucky and had the pools to myself for the first 10 mins or so. Both those times I started on the west coast to the east of yojamba and moved slowly south and occasionally back north depending on other people.

But other times starting there or even starting elsewhere there were tons of people and I never did better than 35 fish and often less than 30.

Yojamba can definitely be a great spot to fish but even with only one other person it can be crowded and not as good as a coastline if no one else is there. I think yojamba is just a hit or miss but then that really applies to anywhere.

I won at Yojamba, I just fished the island and the beach in front of the Deadmines Harbor Door. I always had plenty of pools, there was one of the player at the island fishing, I tried to help him some what (gave him some pointers on how to do the contest, it was his first time).

    Thanks for your tips guys.

I practiced fishing the last couple o' days to avoid any future mistakes. I guess I will stay on Yojamba next sunday again and see how I do... If I will be close, I might repeat the strategy again and if no, I will go on the main land next time :-) Thanks a lot for your advice!
