Made this post because i wonder what the average amount of catches is before you have all the coins in Dalaran...
I have 670 catches now and still one gold coin short (but i'm probally just unlucky again)
Lol just after i post this i catch my last coin :p Total catches: 675
I don't have my stats but I would guess that I have around 400-450 catches and I'm three gold coins short.
My guess would be about 700 casts to get all the coins. I finally did it, but noticed one bug perhaps others have found this too. As soon as I get a Gold Coin I throw it in the fountain for the 2 minute lucky buff for increased chances of catching a coin. If during that 2 minutes I catch another Gold Coin and keep it in my bags I am unable to loot any new coins (gold or otherwise) that I haven't already caught for some reason. So I just started throwing the Gold Coins in right away even if I had almost the full 2 minutes left on the lucky buff. It solved the problem, but meant more time outside the buff.

Because there a a BUNCH of coins, and fishing buddy separates them EACH INVIDUALLY I just combined the gold, silver, and copper ones. Keep in mind I didn't save my gold coins (only threw them back when I had doubles for coin buff) or this probably would of gone faster:
*NOTE ON COIN NUMBERS: if you were so inclined the single digits represent how much of each coin I caught in ALPHABETICAL ORDER on fishing buddy tracker, I'm just not in the mood (gotta catch that rat!) to type each and every name out.
Copper Coin (1st done): 7 3 9 8 2 1 3 2 4 2 6 6 5 4 6 7 6 3 6 3 2 1 3 = 99 (17.8%)
Silver Coin (3rd done) : 10 3 6 7 6 1 5 1 4 8 5 4 6= 66 (11.9%)
Gold Coin (2nd done): 2 4 1 1 2 5 5 3 7 2 2 3 4 2 2 = 45 (8%)
Fountain Goldfish: 301 (54%)
Sewer Carp: 4 (0%)
Empty Vial: 1 (0%)
Magic Eater: 1 (0%)
Bent Fishing Hook: 31 (5%)
Total: 556
It took me about 950 catches.... at least its not 1000...
Took me about 1300 catches...and when I finally got the last gold coin, I had AT LEAST 2 of every other coin (including the gold coins)...but then I wasn't throwing any of them back, not even dupes.
Many of the coins I had 10+ of, especially copper and silver.
