[Fishing] Coralshell Turtle, a mount?

  1. wisely <Angler>, 2 years ago:

    Spent 1 hour at Basin,

only fishing in the pools, roughly around 30-40 pools, around 120-150 casts.

no mount, and no other special loots found.

only one time fished up grey item, which I didn't put any lure at that time (using a +30 pole and with 450 skills).

I also noticed that, when I fish in the pools, now I have about 90-95% will get a suckerfish in every cast.

and finally, regarding the "reduced time in fishing", I used a stopwatch and found out now the casting time per each cast is 15 seconds instead of previously 20 seconds.

I can confirm that when I get in the water on my Riding Ram or Horse, it can swim submerged at the same speed as on the surface. On the surface, only his head sticks up above the water.

    New PTR Patch Notes here...

    # Fishing

    * A new (and very rare) special mount can now be caught from Northrend fishing pools.
    * A new clam, the Giant Darkwater Clam, can be obtained by fishing in Wintergrasp. This mighty clam has a greatly increased chance to drop pearls, and yields up to five times the regular amount of clam meat.
    * New fishing dailies are now offered from Marcia Chase in Dalaran City!
    * Players are no longer required to do the Nat Pagle, Angler Extreme quest to gain Artisan fishing. The quest now offers a special superior-quality fishing pole instead. If you already completed the quest, you can visit Nat Pagle in Dustwallow Marsh to receive this new fishing pole.
    * The time needed to catch fish has been reduced.
    * You can now fish anywhere, regardless of skill. Every catch has the potential for fishing skill gains, but you are likely to catch worthless junk in areas that are too difficult for your skill.
    * You can now fish in Wintergrasp, and the fishin' is good!
    * You no longer need to learn fishing from books. The trainers have finally done their reading and are able to teach you the same thing.

    I spent a few hours on the PTR fishing schools in the Frozen Sea, as that seemed to be the most logical spot, here are my results;

    521 successful casts
    244 - Moonglow Cuttlefish
    232 - Deep Sea Monsterbelly
    26 - Reinforced Crate
    19 - Crytallized Water

    363 - Pygmy Suckerfish
    27 - Cobalt Ore
    26 - Borean Leather Scraps
    20 - Frostweave Cloth
    4 - Dirftwood
    3 - Tattered Cloth
    2 - Weeds

Hardly conclusive, but my experience certainly points to a rather low drop rate, or that it's not in yet.

There should be a rowboat vehical forall the salty folk out there. You should get a letter in the mail asking you to come to the dalaran vistor center to claim your boat prize.

There you will be offered the boat or "The Mystery Box"

Anything could be in the mystery box, even a boat!

  5. Illuthas <Salty>, 2 years ago:

You know how we always wanted one of those! Hijack!

  6. Wotcherscamp <Angler>, 2 years ago:

When the mention of new pets first came out, Coralshell Turtle was one of them...but now in the rumored pets, there's no mention of it...my guess:

You may get a baby coralshell turtle which may put you on a quest to return it to its mother or something and the adult version is what you get for a mount.

Gief rowboat for Salties! Like that dude in the Fjords, it should have 1 passenger seat.
Also, I believe there is another mount that offers the 100% speed increase in water. Some nether ray thing, can anyone confirm or have I been dreaming?

Sorry for the somewhat off topic post ^^

  8. TheTacoMan <Salty>, 2 years ago:

Confirmed, i belive it was 'Swift Riding Ray' - 100% Aquatic mount. No source was found on it

  9. el <Nat Pagle's Love Child>, 2 years ago:

The Aquatic Riding Ray disappeared from the spell list in the last PTR build.

  10. Gamal <Angler>, 2 years ago:

What I thought of is that the rewards from the Extravaganza are losing more and more value:

    - The Arcanite pole has only +5skill than the next best and doesn't even look special.
    - The Hook of the master angler is already nearly useless because of its long cd, decreased swim speed bonus and water walking potions (if you are no dk or shamie) allowing you to ride on water. I think this reward should be changed to a unique swimming mount with higher swim (and diving) speed than other (easier) obtainable.

  11. TheTacoMan <Salty>, 2 years ago:

The only PLAUSIBLE use for hook of the master angler is to sit in the dalaran fountain yelling 'I'm in ur fountain, eatin ur baits!'

  12. Cozmic <Salty>, 2 years ago:

Anyone lucky enough to catch the mount yet? I'm still not on the PTR.

  13. el <Nat Pagle's Love Child>, 2 years ago:

Latest PTR version refers to this as a "Sea Turtle", with a swim speed increase of 60%. No land speed increase.

Oh. And based on data files, the Baby Corelshell Turtle (and the other changes) are no longer part of One that Didn't Get Away (that achievement is now the same as on live realms).

how disappointing. it's not even worth getting aside from increasing your mount total. your better off using water walking potions than using this mount.

Again, you have missed the point about : walking above the water and swimming inside the water.

They are 2 totally different things.

Well...the no land speed increase kinda makes sense...turtles aren't known to be fast on land after all...still bad that it will mean we will have to switch mounts just to swim underwater faster....

  17. TheTacoMan <Salty>, 2 years ago:

VERY dissapointing to hear it has NO land speed increase. I understand the joke, turtles are slow. Ha ha. It was funny when they did it with the TCG mount. I was going to farm for this mount and use it as my main ground mount, but now i can't really be bothered. Another joke to summon in the Eventide fountain and nowhere else

  18. el <Nat Pagle's Love Child>, 2 years ago:

I should clarify that the 60% is derived from data-mining. It isn't actually confirmed until someone catches it. (Because sometimes when a new type of item appears, the game uses familiar data in unfamiliar ways.)

  19. Cocomatona12 <Angler>, 2 years ago:

A 60% swimming speed increase sounds very very bad for such a unique mount. As a druid with the aquatic form glyph I can already swim 100% faster, making this mount nothing more than something to show off with in Dalaran. Let's all hope the listed speed is either incorrect or misunderstood.

  20. Emerald <Salty>, 2 years ago:

I'm under the impression now that this mount will no longer increase speed on land, and will only increase it 60% in water? Seems a bit unfair given how no doubt rare this mount will be. Though I'll still fish for it, lol. ;)
