Here’s a little story of hope/luck/magic for all you fisherfolk that are cursing your bad luck over not catching Mr Pinchy and/or not getting the Magical Crawdad pet. My brother and I had both been fishing the pools for a number of months and were both loosing out to the statistics in a big way, having made many, many more casts than the odds suggest are necessary to land a Pinchy.
A few weeks before the patch I finally got my Pinchy and he made me bite my nails all the way to the last wish, before handing me the pet. My bro has continued fishing for his Pinchy ever since and since the patch has been getting pretty frustrated at the lack of pools, due to the influx of achievement chasers who all want to bag themselves a Magical Crawdad.
Last night I met up with my bro, he was helping my grind some rep in Skettis, as all the pools had been fished up. Now we don’t get together that often, due to real life circumstances. He tends to play early evening, whilst I play the graveyard shift, so he had not seen my Magical Crawdad since I was lucky enough to be gifted it. So of course I let him out for my bro to admire and he duly patted him. That was that, we ground some rep for a while then both quit, as a server reset in 15 mins message came up.
This morning, before going to work, my bro decided to hop on and see if he could find some early morning pools. To his disappointment, someone had beaten him to it and there was only one pool left, which is a bit of an annoying one to fish. Well, beggars can’t be choosers, so he fished it and yep, you know what’s coming, it was indeed the one, his fourth catch was only Mr Pinchy himself. What was his first wish? Yep, guessed it again, he is now the proud owner of a Magical Crawdad.
So, my brother pats a Magical Crawdad, then first pool he fishes ends up with his own Magical Crawdad. A bit of Crawdad magic? Hallows End spookiness? Or just plain old luck and circumstance? You decide. Here’s another twist to the tale though, remember that one lucky pool that was left for him to fish? Well that was the same pool that yielded my Mr Pinchy and Magical Crawdad…
