[Fishing] 'Crocolisks in the City' Achievement

I've been at this for about a month now! For some reason, this quest isn't showing up at all from ol' man barlo.... Am I missing something here? I've completed all of the quests except for this one.

Same thing happened to me with the "Jewel of the Sewers" daily. I'd been doing the new fishing dailies religiously, and never saw that quest until 3.1.xxxxxxx <-------- (insert game tuning number) hit about a week ago, and now I've complete Jewel 3 times.

The official line is, "It's completely random". I don't really buy it though. ;-)

Ok....This is totally wierd but after months of this quest not popping for me, it finally was available today, so I've completed it.

    It's a conspiracy man XD

    Random events are random.

    :)

I generally only see it once or twice every three weeks.

I once talked to a GM about this, regarding the cooking quests (since I was seeing Infused Mushroom Meatloaf upwards of 60% of the time). His comment was "while the quest is chosen at random, the randomness is not necessarily given an equal chance for all available choices." I also asked if this applied to other randomized dailies and was told it does.

Unfortunately I lost my screenshot of the conversation in a computer meltdown :( otherwise I'd happily crop and share.

The old statistics saying "Random does not mean distributed" is in full effect with daily quests.

Remember you can flip a coin once a day for a month and only see heads 5 times... doesn't mean anything. Make it 5 possibilities instead of just 2 and you can get much crazier results.

Anglers should know better than to be tricked by pseudo-patterns... I suspect that GM was just confused.

I think what the GM was trying to say is that every of the 5 daily quests has a different chance to "spawn".
    Lets assume that:
'The One That Got Away' has 28% ...
    'Shrimpin' Ain't Easy' has 25% ...
'Crocolisks in the City' has 12% ...
    'Bait Bandits' has 17% ...
    'Felblood Fillet' has 18% ...

    ... Chance to be chosen.

So you could do /random 100 and say:"'Well if its a number from 1 to 28 it's 'The One That Got Away', from 29 - 53 it's 'Shrimpin' Ain't Easy, from 54 to 65....." and so on.

So you can't really compare a LaPlace experiment like flipping a coin, with an equal chance for all events, with a 'Bernoulli-chain' (don't know the correct English term, in German it would be 'Bernoulli-Kette'), where you have different chances for each event, but doing the event n-times.

Hope you understand my English and what I meant. ;)

Just seems odd to me that they would have five dailies with basically equal rewards (save the Croc I suppose) and bother to weigh certain dailies to appear more often than others. What's the upside? Certainly it would burn folks out on the primary daily faster.
