[Contests] Death Knight - the new STV fishing champion class?

    I've just started playing a DK, getting it up to lvl 63. There is one skill that they have that makes me think that DK's are going to own the STV Fishing Extravaganza.

    That skill is Path of Frost:
    Path of Frost
    1 Frost
    Instant
    The Death Knight's freezing aura creates ice beneath his feet, allowing him and his party or raid to walk on water for 10 min. Works while mounted. Any damage will cancel the effect.

    Emphasis: Works while mounted.

    I can easily see a DK using this to ride his epic mount with his spurs and his riding whip up and down the STV coast along the water, not having to work around water hazards along the way. When he sees a pool, he dismounts and fishes, still standing 10 feet out into the water. After he fishes the pool, he mounts up. Lather, rinse, repeat.

    Also I can see this skill as bringing even more twinks into the fray... if you get a DK guildie to Path of Frost your lvl 19 char and your buddies, you can run up and down the coast without fear of getting attacked.

    Has anybody worked their fishing up on their DK yet, or encountered a DK using this ability in the STV extravaganza? I'm interested in hearing what luck you've had with STV.

    This also works with Shaman skill water walking, also allowing us to mount on water. I didn't used it last sunday but I did see a 19 twink getting buffed by a DK friend. Im not sure what guy won though, but this skill sure gives shammys and dk's a huge advantage.

    Ganking just went down 90% because no one will want to waste time swimming out into the water to gank you. As a shammy Im not dissapointed! :)

    honestly it doesnt give that much advantage, as fishing from the water you are more inclinded to have 'water is too shallow' messages then getting it in the acutal pool, as for ganking, mostly they just hit you with a DoT and then that renders your ability useless until its gone and you have to swim back and cant fish... so the pool is usually gone...

    it isnt a massive advantage but it does have some uses - like that bugged pool that only half shows up can be easily gotten from the water side but is nearly impossibly from land

    but most DKs are naps, that cant play. so -no problem

    I could see it being useful, but given that many winning strategies don't actually involve moving around much, hopefully won't be a deal breaker.

    So for, the most amusing thing I've seen with path of frost was when exiting one of the WotLK dungeons. We were jumping down the quick exit into pools of water, and path of frost made it act like a regular floor. Oops.

    The strategy i, a hunter, use is to have a death knight and paladin fallow me giving me water walking and 20% speed bonus. i short you move FAST, it helps but it doesn't assure a win.

    I would have to say it made it easier being a dk (i believe im the first dk to win it on my server, shadowsong) compared to when i played my druid, it made fishing the bugged nodes that are halfish in the ground possible. Now if my Mr. Pinchy would just give me his pet i'd be "Salty Shnizz"

    has the 20 % increase to my mounted speed...that combined with PoF was just amazing.
