    I have been fishing in the tournament for almost 2 years now and have come up short each time. I could not tell you how many times I've had 35+ fish and the winner was announced. One time I was in the middle of a hearth. The worst loss ever was as I was clicking the NPC, someone won......I had to buy a new mouse after that event...

    I joined El's Forums 3 Tournaments ago and won, was gone for a week, and won again this past Sunday.

    So apparently it is true...it's not what you know (my track record proves I'm the worst Angler alive ... stupid 7 Mr Pinchy's and no pet)...but who you know. Thanks Elb! :)

    I agree- My sincere thanks to El, as I too won the Fishing Contest on my server last weekend ( I look GREAT as a fish). And in 1 month caught Mr. Pinchy 3 times (I could open a pet store now).

    This webiste has helped me a lot and I have passed my not-so-secret weapon on to others to help them with their fishing also. With the fishing cooking double-play I was able to get my epic flying mount 3 weeks after reaching 70. Thanks again!

    Els Anglin' is definitely good luck. I entered my first fishing contest today after carefully reading up on all of the advice on this site, and I won! I also managed to catch two Angelfish and a Queenfish. I'd consider that pretty lucky *grin*

    Well, I won the contest twice before I ever came to this site, so can't say it helped me there.

    Can't say that I've had much luck finding my Tiny Emerald Whelpling though. Been killing cute dragonlings for 7 hours in a row now, while browsing this and a couple of other sites while waiting for respawns. As for staying to the water, my luck with catching Mr. Pinchy isn't exactly extravagant either. 1 catch so far, with near a million casts. Oh well... ;)

    I'll try some fishing in Ironforge later today. I've heard rumors of a heavy fish that likes to chew on lines in the shallow waters there.

    Now I just need to catch another Qeenfish :P
    And the glove enchant, ofcourse, then I'm maxed out on fishing :D
    Next step will be the weather-beaten fishing hat, but that requires lvl70, darn it... >.<

    Luck is a fickle thing indeed. After weeks of gaining absolutely nothing from hours spent fishing during the contest, today El's very first catch was a rare. I went on to both win the contest, and catch the 2 other rares. All in 45 minutes. Oh my!

    I've been reading this site for the past couple days (decided last week I wanted Salty) and took part in my first fishing competition today, after reading all the tips--and won it. :) Now it just requires patience for the remaining achievements!

    I tried the tournament and can't cast in stranglethorn.
    I can fish anywhere else, i.e. booty bay, but when I equip my fishing rod and hit my cast macro/hotbutton it does nothing.
    Any Ideas?
    Thanks for the help, I can't complete Nat Pagle's quest w/o fishing in Stranglethorn.

    Are you getting any error message when you try to cast?

    It's probably a problem with an add-on or your macro.
    Try using the fishing button directly from your spell book.

    I created an account just to thank El and all the others with their valuable information on this site. This site rocks!
    I attempted the Extravaganza for the first time ever, on my new DK, and managed to actually win it, thanks to you guys. <3
    I'll I need now is a Mr. Pinchy Pet and a rare fish and I'm on my way to Salty :)

    But there's a downside to everything I guess. Over 2500 fish in IF and still no Old Ironjaw :(
