[Fishing] Fish prices falling since 3.1

  1. rakoth <Angler>, 4 years ago:

Until 3.1 came out I was happily making lots of money, mainly from Dragonfin, Nettlefish and Glacial Salmon (some stacks cooked, some not). With 3.1 the market has crashed on my server and prices have dropped significantly. Has anyone else seen this? I'm hoping this is just a temporary lull in the market - like the S&P :)

Fortunately mining and herbalism are still good money makers.

  2. Paralord <Salty>, 4 years ago:

Yep, this has happened on my realm also.

This is mainly due to casual fisherman trying to get the mount. So there is alot more mats on the market.

  3. Gihelle <Salty>, 4 years ago:

Yep, a lot of people are throwing fishes in the AH now that everyone and their mother is going for the mount.

Before 3.1 I would dominate the Cuttlesteak market (healers LOVE the plus Spirit), but right now I can barely sell them for 20g/stack.

This is also a side effect of the new fishing dailies as well. As fishers head to places like Wintergrasp (terrorfish daily), Nettlefish, Salmon, and Sculpin supply has exploded. The Monsterbelly, formerly one of the best selling fish on the market, has dropped through the floor. You might in some cases even be better off vending some fish, depending on how flooded your market is, or opening up a bank alt, loading it up with frostweave bags, and stocking for later.

Take a look at this chart from WoWEcon of the Monsterbelly market, as marked. Once patch 3.1 hit, the market tanked into oblivion.

The only thing propping up the fish markets in any way right now is the fact that feasts are tradeable and Ulduar's running, meaning that raids are using Fish Feasts. Once a sizeable number of guilds finish exploring Ulduar and get it on farm, expect the market for fish feast mats to degrade further.

Oh, as for what you SHOULD be fishing for profit? Borean Man O War.

    The chart doesn't lie!

  6. Tust <Angler>, 4 years ago:

actually the chart does lie. while prices of borean man o'war have shot up, no one is buying. it's all greedy fishmen trying to gouge customers and no one is falling for it. no one is going to pay 20g or more for a stack when you need 3 of them to make one stack of the jelly. the jelly is not good enough to be paying 60g (150g on my server) a stack for.

  7. ashyni <Angler>, 4 years ago:

Probably not on Moonrunner, but the reason I use WowEcon is their data is based on sales as opposed to listed auctions - so on at least some realms, fishers are getting those prices. That said, there certainly are more than enough folks offering too high.

  8. Druidor <Angler>, 4 years ago:

Fish prices on EU Thunderhorn have crashed, I could easily make 400+ gold from an hours fishing for Glacial salmon (50-90g stack) currently they are trading for as low as 13g a stack.

Fish economy just like the real world.

Same situation on Hyjal and Ravencrest.

I don't think I need to say anything else.

conformed on lightinghoof as well....though moonglow NEVER sold for over 20g. We have a real fish bot problem on this server as well and the new WG scares me. Any suggestions on how to catch these guys? When fishing pools I come across them but they seem to be at least NEAR the computer because although they have some sort of auto response to my tells, the GMs have been ineffective.

Check how many fish he caught, and tell me if that's humanly possible.

I reported this guy MULTIPLE times, yet he's still botting and he's online right now..

  13. SlugSalter <Angler>, 4 years ago:

It's tough selling fish on Darkmoon Faire too. I was really hoping to be able to cash in on Borean Man O' War after the patch but it ain't happening, and I'd got tons of 'em too.

  14. ashyni <Angler>, 4 years ago:

    I want 246,000 fish.

Wait, how the heck does he clear inventory? Does the bot automatically fly you to a vendor?

I can't imagine he's even making any income with that much bot fishing. He'd flood the market singlehandedly.

  15. rakoth <Angler>, 4 years ago:

276000 catches amounts to roughly 1000 hours of fishing if you assume 4.5 catches/min. Assuming it is a bot then it can't be fishing pools which means a lot of worthless fish are being caught.
