[Fishing] Fishing Boat Mount

  1. Gnarrl <Angler>, 3 years ago:

I've been avidly posting a suggestion for a fishing boat mount. My suggestion would be either a rowing boat or motor boat that moves at normal speed and possible a cooler for beer. I would like to see your opinions are here at elsanglin.com.

Wen i first heard about WoTLK i always thought it would be Sea Mounts.. as in The FIRST WoW, it was land mounts, Then BC Whit Flying..So why not boats and giant turtles or WALES etc? And ye! Even thought the boat wil only move in normaly speed atleast u dont need Water Walking pots etc :D U should realy tell blizz before WoTLK is released!

    What a fantastic idea!

I would love some sort of fishing/boat mount.

Unfortunately, not in the beta so I can't post on those forums.

It would be nice if we got some sort of boat mount and there were ways you could customize your boat. Like you could start out with a simple row boat and upgrade to a little sail boat with a sail, and from there maybe attach an engine so it's a motor boat?

An ice compartment for all the dead fish would be nice too...but maybe that's asking too much. :)

Well there is the mammouth mount that will have a vendor on it, maybe it's not asking too much.

Awsome idea , I really hope they give us something like that , not some stupid contest but maybe a nice questchain or as a rare drop for us extreme fishing freaks that can take the heat & fish for stuff with ultra low droprate.

    Gnarrl for president!

Awesome idea, just a 40% speed boat that you can control, how awesome!

To obtain it can be just trough tokens from a Fishing Daily quest or simly from fishing every single fish in game :)

Great idea! Wish I could add to that forum link but I'm not allowed. Thanks for this idea.

theres my suggjestion i think it makes sense.

My reply on the WoW forums.

That'd be great.... Well not the whole engineering part.

Though I'd LOVE to see a row boat just so it can keep me above the water to fish, but something like this should be super rare. Not just something a gold buyer can get, or a gold farmer can simply purchase. No, I'd like to see some prestige to it, sorta like the sea turtle. It should be more rare. It should be the holy grail for a true angler.

Drop chance equal to that of the turtle from normal pools ONLY in debris pools
Drop chance of equal to that of the turtle from open water in normal pools
Drop chance of the Darkwood fishing pole in openwater

    That seems fair to me.

IT should go at atleast normal ground mount speed, and two people... Eh, it'd be cool I guess. Go fishing with some buddies. Lol. Maybe give it + fishing skill rather than fishing speed. It's not exactly a lure, so it wouldn't make the fish bite any faster. But that goes with my other ideas.

Lures should increase the speed in wich fish bite, rather than your chances of catching in open water. Sure a bonus is okay too I guess, but lures should totally be for speed.

I also read someone from el's forums (I'll insert their name when I find it again here) suggest that fishing skill increase your accuracy of casting. Like to make hitting pools easier. That'd be a nice idea for fishing skill. =]

Rather make it a really long quest chain and try to induce some skill.

I cannot even get the turtle, and I don't think I could stomach more 10k+ pool grinds. I much rather fish up 200 fish of each type, then defeat a sea monster, rescue a mermaid and teach Nate Pagle a new trick. Still long, still dedicated, but more interesting, and not as insanely unfair as the RNG can be.

Renetta i expanded your quest idea go check it out XD

I finished writting the chain quest

What a fantastic idea! This kind of suggestion needs community backing!

  19. Lilitheen <Angler>, 1 year ago:

Ya I could go for a very long difficult quest chain, so long as it didn't involve farming for gold to buy 'x' to be able to complete, I mean if it resorts to that it wouldn't be as cool. I wouldn't mind anything involving catching 'x' number of 'x' though.

I actually don't think its a good idea. Fishing is not a central activity for the average WoW subscriber. Not only that, but the advantage would obviously be to fish far off coast without water walk pots or an ability granting a similar effect. However, nodes do not spawn out there.

A mount that can only travel on the surface of water just seems silly, unless it went *absurdly* fast.

A much easier idea to implement would be to gives us the ability to fish off of the Sea Turtle mount. T hen they could add "deep water" nodes that are essentially only available to veteran anglers or people with waterwalk abilities/pots.
