[Contests] Fishing Contest Griefing

This past Sunday I won the fishing extravaganza, but not without alot of griefing. Have people noticed others riding interference for there guild mates? What I saw was several players riding on there Mammoths blocking people's bobbers. (they can do this now because they dont dismount in water) Also when I went to turn in the fish, another person was standing right on the quest giver. (I knew better and still got the turn in)

What do you all think of this? I see it as griefing and needs to be addressed. Because of the new mount changes in the last patch, people can just block people's pools with a mount. I could even see whole guilds doing this so one of them wins.

Pretty lame i agree, glad to hear you won anyway, serves them right, jerks. I've only had this done to me a few times but it makes me angry everytime. I play Alliance on PVE server and its the Horde I always see doing this. Nothing against the Horde in general (backstabbing monstrosities that they are). I am sure Alliance does this on other servers. I think you should report them for griefing and let Bliz make the final decision. I'm sure if they got enough complaints they would address it specifically one way or the other.

Thats unfortunate people take such measures to hinder one's ability to fish.

Griefing like that has been around since the contest was introduced, unfortunately, but I guess it used to be limited to moonkin and bears jumping up and down on your bobber. All the same, I've been reporting them for years, though I'm not sure what, if anything, the GMs do about it.

It doesn't solve the problem, but baby spice does help a bit :-)

My understanding on this type of situation is that, on a PvP server, the GM's will say 'there is an in-game mechanic to discourage this type of behavior' (kill them). On a PvE server, there is a chance that your petition would be addressed, since you have no way to stop them yourself. It won't help much at the time, as it can take a while, but it may discourage the same person from doing it again if they get warned.

Keep in mind, the GM's will NEVER tell you what the outcome is when you report someone for something like this. You're going to have to trust that they took whatever action was appropriate.

Even on a pvp server, if you are experiencing this issue from member of your own faction or in Dalaran fountain for example from either faction, from what I've heard, GM's can and will take action when there is no option to resolve the problem by yourself.

I had a mammoth on my pool when I was about to win, or had a good chace at least. This was to let there gm win, it was a group of two guys on mammoth and there gm. I asked the gm to call off her goons, she said they dont like being called goons.. I was than ignored..

I myself have never encountered such griefing in the fishing tournament and the way it sounds I'm pretty I haven't experienced that, yet. But obviously no descent angler (with the right spirit) would ever use such griefing to win that tournament. Such amateurs! ;)

I found it amusing how many people honestly don't have anything better to do than try and be annoying. I was fishing in Dalaran Underbelly and literally 6 different people have tried to block my bobber .... what the hell?!
