[Fishing] Fishing Extravaganza: Repeated Wins

  1. vaccine <Angler>, 1 year ago:

Whats peoples views on winning the STV event more than once (or twice)? I was getting a lot of grief for this the other whilst fishing, and though I didn't win I found it a bit baffling. Surely this is the pinnacle of fishing acheivements, battling vs other players to catch the most fish the fastest?

So what do other people think?

Well have won it three times, first time I got the pole, second time I got the trinket, then I needed to continue doing it for the damn High Test Eternium Fishing Line.
I too got grief for that, so I told the others if they didn’t stop /w and shouting in /1 I would win again and again until they stopped, and just to prove it I won that day too. They soon left me alone until I got my Dezian Queenfish to complete my full set.
So if you want to win again for the Rod or Trinket, then I suggest just do it, you pay you sub. And you have every right to get the "other" item from winning again if you choose to do so.

After winning the fishing tournament twice, I wouldn't bother turning the fish in to win. Really - what's the point ? Considering that an extra trinket would share the same cool down as the first trinket (and you can't get another fishing pole), unless you want to disenchant the trinket for a shard, there's no point in winning again. It'd be better to just collect your fish and then turn them in for gold at the end of the fishing period. And at level 70, those 40 fish would be equal to ~9 gold. That's what I do since even though I've won twice, I still have yet to get the Queenfish as well. If people ask why I'm still fishing, I just tell them that I wouldn't turn them in even if I did get 40 speckled tastyfish before everyone else.

Personally, I wouldn't turn in after winning twice. If you are interested in testing yourself via competing, get the 40 fish, and run to the turn in. Then, without having to turn in, you've won.

If you feel the need to turn in, then you weren't really just testing yourself, where you?

If you've already won the tournament or gotten everything you wanted but you still want to work on the rare fish, another option is simply start fishing late.

You could plant yourself in Booty Bay or the area, and start fishing at 2:20 or wait for them to announce the winner and then start fishing. This way no one can construe that you're trying to win again even though you have everything.

You lose about 20 minutes of fishing this way, but if you don't want any grief you could try that. Otherwise I would just fish normal like everyone else and wait to turn in the fish when the event ends.
