[Fishing] Fishing Tale (Add A Story Fools =D)

    (Anyone Else Got Fishing Storys?)

Hi, I'm Noff, and I just started getting into fishing about two weeks ago, before WotLK came out. I started off by trying too catch Old Ironjaw, and about 1000 fish later, I caught him. Everyone though I was crazy for fishing, saying it was boring, and a waste of time. After I caught Ironjaw, I stormed into Orgrimmar and hid behind a rock too catch Old Crafty, after getting two shot by a lvl 80 mage, gah, I caught Old Crafty after 100 casts, woot!

After catching all those, I decided to give Mr. Pinchy a try, but no luck. So I spent the whole day trying to catch, The One That Didn't Get Away. After fishing for the whole day, I caught my 15 Pound Mudsnapper in the Elwynn forest.

The next day I decided I wont do anything else, until I caught Mr. Pinchy, after about 3 days of non stop fishing, I was about to give in, when all of a sudden there he was. I bragged too all my friend when my first wish from him was the Crawdad :D.

After getting all I could in Azeroth and Outlands, I decided to try and best Northrend, Got my Grandmaster fishing and stormed off into Northrend, only to get killed by a level 76 Giraffe (Turns out they dont like Shadow Word: Death) I bought a port to Dalaran.

Spending about an hour looking for the fountain, I gave up and when into the underbelly to try and catch the giant rat. I prepared for a whole day of fishing. But after 20 casts, I caught him! I have some fishing luck :D

Now I'm in Dalaran, trying to get the famous coins of fountain coiniesness!

    --

It's now 9:11 PM Canada people time. So far I've caught all the copper and silver, need 3 more gold coins. Caught about 500 goldfish, who knew catching goldfish needed such skill, and tasted so good ! lol JK, I only ate about 60 of them for fun.

10:15 PM CPT. Caught all of the coins. Got a coin I can flip! Best idea ever! Got bored of it after the first flip.

    --

It's Sunday and I was sitting in Dalaran, wondering what to do. Then I though, aww crap, 5 minutes untill the Fishing Contest starts. Went to SW and flew as fast as the gryphon could go, which is the same as the other gryphons. I got to the Contest like, 30 seconds late, which was valuable time. So I hopped on my Zebra, thats right, A Zebra, And I fished like hell. I managed to get 35 fish before a winner was declared. I cried. Not really. Ok maybe a little. In the end I traded my fish for like. 5G, kool. To bad I didn't get a rare fish.

Now i'm sitting in Stranglethorn, wondering what i'm going too do. Am I going to get past level 70? Trying and get the fishing nodes in Northrend? Or just run around in circles on my awesome Zebra?

    --

Monday, Dec 1 (omg 18 more days until holidays) just fished some nodes in Northrend, and decided to quest in Howling Fjord so I could get levels too fish in other parts, nothing exciting.... got some recipes, happy cupcakes and bad clams? wtf? who would eat bad clams?

    --

Noffs log: Seadate: Awesome (Dec 02-08). After questing in the Howling Fjord, I came across a giant lift, being the smart guy I am, instead of taking said lift, I simply jumped off the cliff, since I was a priest, I simply floated into the sea. I stumbled upon a school of manta rays, and I thought, "kool, manta rays." and they give a haste bonus, "shwing", Being the curious half goat half humanoid thing I am, I ventured further into the sea, and I noticed, shiny parts of water, but it wasn't a school of fish. I kept fishing Borean Man O' War (If anyone knows what it's used for, post) Then I noticed an orca swim by. I thought, " holy crap, an orca." O finished today by cooking my spoils, I wonder how you cook a manta ray.....

Wouldnt realy call that lucky compared to mine :
    Mr.Pinchy : 28th catch,1st wish
    Old Ironjaw : 100th catch
    Old Crafty : 57th catch
    Coins : 1:30hours
Sewer rat : still fishing,200 atm
The One That Didn't Get Away : 5500 catch

Luck is a matter of perspective i gues

    Ummm Thanks?

  4. Krahn <Salty>, 4 years ago:

    I enjoyed the story.

Noticed you went for the 15 pound mud snapper, I'm thinking that's the best way to go for One that Didn't get Away.

Can't wait to hear the next part of the story -- where you win the Fishing competition on your 1st try ^_^

  5. Noff <Angler>, 4 years ago:

Woo i'm glad someone likes it, I updated if anyone else wants to read :D btw, I please don't post a big statistic thing like the second poster, it's annoying.

  6. Krahn <Salty>, 4 years ago:

As for the Fishing competition -- I'd stick around until it officially ends at 4:00. Just keep fishing for those rare fish -- get some boots, a hat, and an eternium line that you can either save for when you get your Arcanite Pole, or put it on your current pole.

Since it's only once a week, I'd take that little Zebra and keep fishing up nodes for those rare fish, they aren't as rare as you'd think...

  7. Cutsprocket <Salty>, 4 years ago:

yeh those rare fish can be tough i won the comp on my 2nd try back in december and decided to try to get all the rare fish- 6months later and i had finally gotten them all including the rockhide strongfish, suprisingly enough it was the bluefish for the boots that took the longest but the wait was well worth it

my fishing story is about the weather beaten fishing hat. when the fishing daily first came out i thought to myself ,great a way to make a bit of money doing something i enjoy but after a few days a friend of mine recieved the weather beaten fishing hat from her reward bag and from that moment i knew it had to be mine, months past as i continued my pursuit for that hat and finally the week before the expansion came out it was finally mine giving me the chance to leave outlands behind with no regrets and to move onto northrend, in search of bigger fish as it were.

P.S apparently the dark herring has a better droprate somewhere in the area of 1/100-1/500 from the herring pools in fjord

  8. Noff <Angler>, 4 years ago:

Hurray, another fishing story, i'm glad someone else joined. I'm questing in the Howling Fjord Area, I might try and catch that Dark Herring, It would add too my story, and make a good screen shot with the Dark Herring and Old Crafty Equipped, too show off the fishing skills.

    My stories!

Fishing tournament, won it on my first attempt.

Mr Pinchy, took me about 1h30 hours but when I caught the first, I caught another one from the same node! Got the Magical Crawdad from the first Mr Pinchy though!

The one that didn't get away, well, that took me a while. Almost 5000 catches.

Coins were sort of easy. Ironjaw, easy too.

Now I just need to complete Old Crafty and Sewer Rat.

  10. Noff <Angler>, 4 years ago:

Kool, wish I cought Mr. Pinchy in an hour and a half. Andre, you should make the story sound a bit more exciting, like. I was in the fishing tourny when Hakkar attacked me while I was fishing, I Solo'd him and caught 40 tasty fish, when I went to hand in the fish, a legion of undead squirrels where after me, but they couldn't attack because I hearthed. Haha, awesome.

  11. Stump <Salty>, 4 years ago:

    Ah, fishing stories!

Old Ironjaw came quickly, by quickly I mean roughly 550 casts.
Old Crafty on the other hand I spent 1500 casts before breaking down and grabbing the Crocolisks in the city and getting him in 20. (1500 casts in Org as a gnome is just no fun.)

Mr Pinchy was kind to me, I caught him on my 9th pool and the first use was the crawdad.

I don't know exact number of casts for the One that Didn't Get Away, but I trained my grand-master fishing and set off for Crystal Lake, this wasn't exciting enough so I moved to the Howling Fjord and fished my way up to skill 432 before the Dark Herring jumped on my line (I was fishing in a pool.)

Coins took me about 4 hours, I didn't mind that too much, not overly fond of the casting issues in the fountain but the coin messages kept me happy.

The Giant Rat took about 500 casts, can't complain.

I won the fishing tourney years ago, before BC was released, I believe it was my third or fourth time attempting to win.

When it comes to the other stuff though, I have no luck. I have never got a rare from the tourney, my boyfriend received the queenfish which he's not overly happy about as he lost the tourney by one fish. He claims the pools did it to spite us. I've also never received the line, hat, or any of the cute crocs from the fishing daily. I did get the lager recipe and the Eye of the Sea though. I'm working on it all, one day at a time. :)

  12. Noff <Angler>, 4 years ago:

Hah, A female gnome named Stump, that's awesome. Sucks it took over 1500 casts for Old Crafty, I didn't know the Crocolisks in the city fishing in Orgrimmaramajogger really worked, I'm glad I cought mine in 100 casts. I agree with the fountain, it's so small and so many people fishing at once (O no QQ) nah jk, the coins where fun and I liked the messages, especially Kel'Thuzad. " I wish someone would give me a big, long hug." I tell my self that all the time..... hah jk, maybe, ok im not joking. Anymore fish storys? (Story Update)

hai, newb here^^ just registered lol
being a hordie, old crafty wasnt an issue, when i snuck in and died the whole 6 times reaching the pool in ironforge, getting teased by a lvl 47 rogue (1 shot crit ftw) i then got corpse camped for an hour. eventually they let me be and i had 4 allies fishing with me. they got bored n then camped me again, i got bored of that fast enough and rezzed in front of them to save us both time lol. they again let me be and i ended up with about 12 allies, 6 either side just fishing away, few of them got the catch before me, and we all had a /cheer /clap. four hours in i logged out at about 5am uk time. when i got up i logged in for the whole corpse camp issue again but eventually got the catch on my 3rd hour^^ (lost count how many fish, was in the 500+ zone tho)
mr pinchy bout 8hrs random fishin before got told i need the pools, then got him 3 days of on off fishing..pet on first wish, 2nd was combat pet^^ he rocked. 3rd wish he turned around n tried to kill me^^
fishing is boring, but fun also, for instance:
