Hello there, i'm new here:)
And also a new angler, reached today 375 in one month :)This post makes me happy. It shows not every one is power leveling whatever it is, may it be your class level or your prof skill. I'm rather tired of people that says it like it is a good thing and to be proud over that they lvled in 4 hours. Seriously i want to get into it, no matter if it is fishing or what, you never know what you are missing if you power level. And escpecially when it comes to fishing, i want to take it easy and really enjoy it ( same as IRL ;) )

I power-leveled Engineering and I still have a blast with it. Of course, it's probably the exception to the rule. You do get more use out of a profession when you level it with your character, but if you're power-leveling your character there really isn't any point in wastig time leveling a profession. I tend to "power-level both" at the same time. For example: I'm power-leveling a paladin who is also a jewelcrafter. Having rings, necks, and trinkets that are 5-10 levels above what you would normally have is awesome.

There are times when power leveling a profession is necessary. Such as when you’re already reached a high level and decide the profession you chose just isn’t really what you thought it would be. Or when Blizzard makes a big change in one of the professions.
I leveled to 60 on my paladin with engineering and loved it. Engineering made leveling with that character a lot more fun. But after the expansion came out I didn’t really play my paladin anymore. So when Blizzard added the flying machine to engineering I had one of my 70 hunters, who had mining and skinning, drop skinning and take up engineering. I power leveled it in one weekend high enough to make the basic flying machine. It took a bit longer to max his skill for the epic flyer, but I did it quickly and I’ve loved it every since. The flying machine is, in my opinion, the very best flying mount in game.
Fishing and cooking are two professions I usually level up slowly as I level my characters. Even if my characters don’t use it, my healers didn’t really need to eat, I still enjoyed leveling up both skills. So I’ve rarely needed to power level either fishing or cooking.
