[Fishing] How to solo The Lurker Above (Fish Lurker Below in SSC)

  1. frol <Angler>, 8 months ago:

I just completed this with my level 76 druid. No slow fall needed, Feline Grace is enough, at least from the platform with the first mobs.

Did it my first try on my lvl 80 shaman. Cast Water Walking, jumped off the platform, popped my Skyguard Cape just before landing and ran straight over to the platform. I caught the Lurker on the first cast, and since I was wearing my fishing outfit, my repair costs weren't too bad after my untimely death. :)

Finally got it. One tip for hunters or others with pets is to dismiss them before jumping in. First few times I tried it pet fell in water and drew mean ole fish. Dismissed him and had no problems.

    Hello fellow anglers.

I got this achievement this afternoon. And want to clarify some things. I even made a screenshot and put some comments in it.

I am a druid and i can confirm what Frol said about feline grace. I used my elixir of water walking and sustained no damage from the fall. I also tried it with Lesser Invisibility potion in caster form. I found out the following. If you use the potion on the ramp, then walk down the ramp passed the mobs and jump in the water there, there will be no falling damage and you can walk to the lurker spot.

Screenshot is here! Its on imageshack, so it has popups.

    • Character: Feannag (EU-Defias Brotherhood).
    • Aquarium: Away.

I did this as a rogue with the Glyph of Blurred Speed

If you want to be safe, stop at the ramps on the way and wait for sprint to recharge. But if you have preparation maybe you can make it?

I just managed to do this as a druid with stealth and without reading any of the instructions.

I stealthed past all of the monsters on the platforms, they didn't seem to notice me.

Then I jumped down, got attacked, hit lifebloom on myself while jumping out of the water as fast as possible, hit moonkin before I got out, managed to survive.

My gear isn't that good, I have a few pieces from a raid I did yesterday, but nothing else to speak of. Definitely no PvP or tank gear, just light leather and cloth. But, I am level 80, so that might be enough nowadays to get this solo.
