[General] I stopped doing the fishing daily

    I stopped doing the daily fishing quest for a while. Part of the reason was Children’s Week. I had about 11 characters to take through the Outland quests and about 40 characters to take through the Azeroth quests. So that took up a lot of time. But the main reason I stopped was because of that ricken fracken fishing hat. *sigh*

    I was taking four characters through the fishing quests every day. Cashara got the fishing hat first day. Woot! I was a happy gamer, especially when I heard how rare of a drop it was. Then I got the hat a second time, again on Cashara. It was frustrating because I had three other characters who wanted that hat. So I reluctantly vendored it. Time passed and the hat dropped again. And again it was Cashara who got it. Once again I had to vendor it. And that just kind of sucked the fun out of the quests for me. So I stopped.

    Last night, having finished all my pet quests from Children’s Week, I tried the fishing quest again. I started with Farli this time, my male dwarf hunter. And to my complete joy he got the fishing hat. I’m a happy gamer once again and I’ve forgiven the random loot generator.

    Speaking of random loot generation, I’ve now gotten four fishing hats and three Eyes of the Sea, but I’ve yet to get a single monocle. I guess it’s called random for a reason.

    Teehee... reminds me of my troubles with the Fishing Extravaganza, over two years ago. I won it twice without ever seeing the Eternium Line drop and had to keep going back for weeks. In that time I fished up six Lucky Hats ... two on each of two successive Sundays and single ones in the remaining weeks.

    Now that I'm levelling a second Druid, she has fished up two Eternium Lines, and absolutely nothing else. I can't even equip one of them, as the pole she is using is the non-BoP Strong Iron Pole which is a "loaner" from the guild. (The line would make it soul-bound, I believe.)

    I only have one level 70 capable of doing dailies, but thankfully she has had the blue hat drop. I've seen the 2 Ring twice on my relatively low-pop server, so I just live in hope of that every time I open a bag now ...

    AFAIK, applying the eternium line will not make the pole soulbound. When I applied the line to a friend's Big Iron fishing pole over a year ago, I was able to trade it back to him.
