[Fishing] I want to be the first "Salty" on my realm

Supposedly, the 3.0 patch comes out 14-Oct-2008, and supposedly it will have all the new stuff in it such as the StormWind harbor, new talent trees, Achievements, etc - everything except a boatride to Northrend or the Death Knight prelude. There is alot of conjecture in that sentence, sure, but if it turns out to be true, I can get a jump start of earning all the achivements required to get the Salty title from the "Accomplished Angler" achievement. If the Achievements are included in the patch, that gives me approximately a month to get all the Old Azeroth and Outland achievements. This is basically all of them except fishing up the rat critter in the sewers of Dalaran (I Smell A Giant Rat), all the coins from the fountain (The Coin Master, A Penny For Your Thoughts, A Penny For Your Thoughts, There's Gold In That There Fountain), and Northrend Angler.

Anyone else thinking about power fishing to 450 or racing to get the Salty title or anything of interest when the Lich King expansion comes out?

I am going to try for the First to 450 Fishing on my realm since it actually records it. But of course I am going to try to get the Salty title.

The main problem I see is getting to Dalaran (see my other post though; bribing anyone in Dalaran who is within your battleground bracket can work to get you there).

Is it really that hard to run from the Northrend starting areas?

  5. Pipre <Deadly Salty>, 1 year ago:

Yes. Impossible in fact. Dalaran is a floating city which can only be accessed by completing a lvl 74 quest. That's the standard way in. You can be ported, summoned, or use Battleground ports to make your way there earlier.

Ah good to know, I never knew that. I will probably wait to get "Salty" until 74 or later.

I didn't think the Rat one was needed for the Salty title.

In the current beta, the rat is not part of the Salty title.

I very much doubt I can be the first Salty on my realm - or even ever. Though my main fisherman will get to dalaran faster than many other characters (being a mage), the bottleneck part for my playstyle will be the lurker - I don't raid, so getting to SSC will be quite problematic.

  13. Iannah <Salty>, 1 year ago:

Well Yoco, Lurker Below shouldn't be too difficult. You definitely don't need a full raid, since you don't need to fight anything to reach Lurker's pool. From the entrance, take the big elevator down and follow the path until after the small elevator going up. From the top of this second elevator, you can see the big water area in SSC, and Lurker's pool is in the center of it. Make sure to bring water walking potions, and slow fall to the water and water walk all the way to Lurker. Start fishing and you should get it soon enough.

    Thank you for the tip!
