[Fishing] Just and FYI about Mr. Pinchy and when you cast him for your wish!

Here is the basic of what happened, and I'll explain further below my quote

Mr. Pinchy #2: (Yeah hate me, I caught 2 Mr. Pinchy in 1 hour after 6 months of fishing and nothing.)
Wish Result 1: NO CLUE! I didn't realize it but I had NO BAG SPACE when I cast my wish. However I know that I was rewarded (or WOULD have been, had I the space) something that would require a slot because I not only heard my toons voice emote but the message on the screen in red displayed "THAT ITEM DOESN'T BELONG IN THAT SLOT" (would of been a little bit of a differen't message had the only free slot been an enchanting materials ONLY bag". This means I either missed out on the Gift, or a magical crawdad (which THANK ELUNE I had already gotten from my previous Mr. Pinchy1)

I just wanted to let everyone know, when you use Mr. Pinchy HAVE BAG SPACE.

A GM WILL NOT HELP YOU GET WHATEVER YOU DIDN'T AS A RESULT

It was obvious I wasn't out for something rare for free since I already HAD the magical crawdad. A second one would of been bound to me and pointless, so I wouldn't be contacting a GM to make it seem that's what I didn't get and try a weasle one from them. The only thing I was really wanting actually and the whole reason I contacted a GM anyways was the gift of health and mana pots. Why? Wrath had JUST been released, and I was BROKE spending all my money on uping my new training extensions so It would of been nice to get some extra mana and healing pots before I braved northrend. The GM said first to wait and let them check my records as to what it was, and then a few minutes later told me "Sorry unfortunately there isn't a record and we cannot do anything".

The world isn't over, and I'm not QQing TOO much, but I just thought I'd give those out there a pre-warning in advance, especially to those who haven't been gifted the pet yet :) What a loss that would be cause of a simple mistake like dumping your bags!

I also had a full bag when i made my wish. But dont worry, I got a angry mail from mr pinchy that im stupid for not having space and the gift was in the mail.

Ha! This made me giggle. Glad to know even if you accidentally have no bag space you'll still get your gift :)

    QQ

This incident was over two weeks ago. I never received a mail like you. How long after it happened did it take for you to get the mail?

i just started fishing for the first time yesterday after having 50 hours of gameplay lol. mainly due to the mats for northrend cooking being so expensive. and i just wanted to contribute to the drop chance of mr. pinchy. i caught him on my 3rd pool on the 8th fish. i always thought fishing was boring.. well it is, but for some strange reason i keep wanting to fish now lol :)

I had an idea that perhaps Mr. Pinchy was easier to catch with increased fishing skill - as two of my characters had fished him up in less than 50 casts within roughly a month of each other.

<50 casts - Mr. Pinchy: Hawahunter (450 base fishing)
<20 casts - Mr. Pinchy: Amaunet (404 base fishing)

this morning i tried fishing for Mr. Pinchy on two of my other characters with these results:

<10 casts - Mr. Pinchy: Iololicious (385 base fishing)
<20 casts - Mr. Pinchy: Equator (405 base fishing)

this varies greatly with my pre BC experience on my main whom took hundreds of casts to acquire Mr. Pinchy.

Are there others out there that may be able to confirm my suspicion of either an increased drop rate OR an increased drop rate if you fish with a greater than 500 skill. Since there are posts that one can have multiple Mr. Pinchy's i would be interested to test this theory...

*tips* for those fishing named or special BOP fish:

turn off the auto loot function. you CANNOT loot a fish of this type in this manner. (+5,000 fish in IF later with three odd hiccups that gave no loot made me research this further and it appears true.)

if you know you are going to be there for a LONG time download some add on's to facilitate the fishing process. watch a movie while you fish helps pass the time. (i'm leveling 5 fishermen in this profession and things got much easier with something else to do to break up the tedium)

thanks to El for a wonderful sit that i browse often while i fish,

    =-)

The standard in-game auto-loot function certainly doesn't inhibit fishing BOP fish up -- I got Ironjaw, Crafty, and Pinchy with it; it pops up the "this will bind to you" dialogue like normal. An add-on trying to do something clever may well interfere however.

About OPs post, as I mentioned elsewhere, the pet will _not_ be mailed to you. So make sure you have 1 bag slot before trying for the pet if you need it. If your bags are full and you should get the pet it'll be a wasted wish. Yes this did happen to me and because there was no mail I'm sure it was the pet that I missed.

I have never gotten a mail for the gift, but there are many many credible reports that this one will be mailed to you. Not sure why they decided not to mail the pet :/.
