    Where: Fangtooth Herring/Howling Fjord (also trying for the One That Didn't Get Away, which is all that stands between me and Salty on the alt I fished with)
    Turn in time: I caught the shark at about 55 minutes (bag of fishing treasures reward--New Age Painting). Almost didn't notice I caught it. Someone won on my server in 5 minutes
    I did notice that I had no trouble fishing in the "half-pools," in contrast to the STV tourney.

    Just a note, still fishing, but the contest for me ended in about 7 minutes. Trying out a few places to see if I can get the shark to drop (frozen sea etc).

The guy who won is missing 6 of the easiest achievements for the meta( that's counting the win), leading me to believe he really probably won't bother finishing it. He doesn't have Deadliest Catch, Lurker Below, Northrend Angler, Mr. Pinchy, The Scavenger and The One That Didn't Get Away. This is dperessing.

    Where Shark Caught - Imperial Manta Ray pool, east of Venture Bay at the bottom of the Howling Fjord.

    Turn-in Time - Didn't take note, definitely less than 10 minutes.

    Anything Unusual - I started in the Blue Sky Logging grounds and down the river past Amberpine Lodge, but it was very busy, then I tried the coastal pools which were deserted and voila!

    Unless we have a large selection bias (i.e. if people who win are much more likely to post results), it looks like a large fraction of El's Anglin' regulars have already won (19 no, 8 yes), or about 30% win rate of reported results. Assuming more than three people were trying to win on each server, that's well above the expected win rate if it's completely random, so maybe fishing skill and strategy help quite a bit.

    What: Fished 6 Imperial Manta Ray pools for 16x Rays, 7x Pygmy Suckers, and 2x Crystalized Water. Previously camped a pool and began fishing promptly at 2 pm server.

    Where: SE Howling Fjord. Offshore only.

    When: Turned in about 2:06 pm server using hearth to Dalaran.

    Unusual: Did not see another fisherperson. Personally astounded. I never win anything. Total toon catches: 9780 - No Turtle!

    What else I caught: 12 Pygmy Suckerfish, 17 Fangtooth Herring

    Where: Howling Fjord inland using Fangtooth Herring schools; started around the Cauldros island near Utgarde, but some competition forced me north. Caught the shark on the north side of the lake around Fort Wildevar.

    Turn-In Time: ~2:09 PM server time (took about 30 seconds to teleport and turn-in)

    Anything Unusual: Not really. Saw only three other anglers when moving to other pools; more competition than I wanted, but apparently it was fine.

    Pygmy Suckerfish caught: 80
    Where Shark caught: Didn't catch, but was fishing on Cauldros Isle.
    Turn-in time: 14:07
    Anything unusual: Was fishing pools faster than they could respawn, even though I had no competiton. (Cauldros Isle had worked quite well for Sea Turtle farming before, so I was surprised by the slow respawn)

    Where Shark Caught: Glacial salmon pool in a river north west of the pool where you kiss all the frogs in Grizzly Hills. I'm a caster so decided to fish in Salmon pools for Firecracker Salmon
    Turn-in Time 7 minutes
    Anything Unusual Not really. 2 other people turned up and started fishing in the same pools as me so I moved away up river on my own. I bet they're gutted lol

    Very disappointed there's no server 1st achievement for this

    Catches: I caught 89 items, but I had a lot of casts where the bobber dipped with no catch and catches with only a Pygmy Suckerfish and not other items.
    Suckerfish: 75
    Turn-in: I never caught a shark for the whole hour. I don't know what time the winner was, I never saw a yell even though I was in Borean Tundra. After about 15 minutes I scrolled the chat log completely up to the beginning yell a couple of times, but never saw an announcement of the winner. So I don't know who won on Anvilmar.

    Pygmy Suckerfish Caught : Around 20-25 maybe more. I didn't bother trying catching a shark after. I prefer keeping my luck for my win, or being able to say "I have never catched a shark in my entire life".

    Anything Unusual : No, Alliance won as the rules states, everything is in order.

    Well, I don't know how accurate your reported data is tbh. If you had 55 successful casts in roughly 7 minutes that's: 7 minutes x 60 seconds / 55 catches = 7.6 (roughly) And that's if we ignore the time to hearth/run to the quest giver.

    So what you're saying is that you had a successful catch every 7.6 seconds including flight time between pools?

    Anything Unusual: An Alliance won again. While I was uninterrupted for most of it, the last minute revealed a large amount of alliance swooping around my fishing holes. That being said, the most I could have done was an extra hole, and as I fished for an hour without a shark last week I'll just let it be. I've tried the spot I was in twice, I'll be looking for a new area during the next Derby.

    I came. I threw my dice. I lost. Be back next week.

    (Gummo: I think event times are based on the chat server. For example, Prat time-stamps event announcements precisely 1 second before the correct time. I assume the time displayed on the User Interface comes from a different server machine, which is simply out of sync.)

    Where Shark Caught: Grizzly Hills in the main river flowing south of the Logging Grounds.

    Caught off guard with the contest starting a minute before I thought it would and found the entire area overrun. Had one pool to myself, one pool that someone flew by and started fishing from as well, and got one cast off somebody else's pool. Then spent a good 3-4 minutes searching. Flew west along the river all the way to Dragonblight finding nothing and all but gave up on having a chance at winning.

    Decided to fly back to the river flowing south of the Logging Grounds and found a broken half-pool (the kind that people have trouble fishing from in the STV tournament). Shark popped up on the second cast.

    Took the boots and couldn't be happier. I don't play alts very seriously, so this will at least make farming ZG a little less painful.

    I consider myself very, very lucky. Thanks for all the tips from fellow anglers!
