[Fishing] MAXXED Fishing (+662)

  1. narvil <Salty>, 9 months ago:

went to STV fishing comp today and had some good luck with both the boots and line rare fishes dropping :). after adding these nice new items to my fishing set i finally have the absolute maxed fishing possible (to my knowledge). this number came out to be +662 fishing, i achieved this by using.

    450 fishing skill
    Weather-Beaten Fishing Hat +5
    Arcanite Fishing Pole +35
High Test Eternium Fishing Line +5
    Enchant Gloves - Fishing +2
Nat Pagle's Extreme Anglin' Boots +5
    Sharpened Fish Hook +100
    Captain Rumsey's Lager +10
    Underbelly Elixir +50

    TOTAL = 662 + fishing.

as far is i can see there are no other possible ways for me to make my fishing higher, if you know of any please tell me and i will endeavor to achieve it.

662 is the absoute max in game right now, but since you're only required to have 575 to have no getaways anywhere in game, you could just go with the boots, hat, arcanite pole with eternium line, and 450 base fishing skill.

This would account for a rested 500 fishing skill, with 575 when you apply the hat lure. That's all I use, and I've never had a getaway (in frozen sea or sholozar basin, two of the harder areas to fish in game).

And how do you resupply yourself with underbelly elixirs? I've only ever seen one...

  3. Triseult <Salty>, 9 months ago:

You can find the Underbelly Elixir in the Underbelly (Dalaran sewers.) They're a bit rare, and you pick them up from the ground. You can only use them in Dalaran, but the buff will last even if you leave the city.

Myself, I have all of the above, so my total Fishing skill comes at 502 without temporary buffs. With the lure from the Lucky Fishing Hat (+75), this means 577, which is enough to never have any fish get away. In other words, no need to stock lures or lager until the next expansion, yay. :)

  4. Azaguth <Salty>, 9 months ago:

    My thoughts exactly.

I never bothered with the glove enchant. By the time I was done in STV (which didn't require even 300 skill ever, so no need to even be at max fishing, much less with buffs), I had 500 resting (raw skill + stv items).

Then I just carried around the Sharpened Fishing Hooks from the fishing daily...and after the hat dropped there, I didn't need the hooks anymore either.

So I just never got around to getting the glove enchant. Which is all for the best, I suppose, one less piece of gear I have to carry around all the time.

    Me:

    Skill 450
    Kalulak Pole +30
    Lure +100

    Total: 580 - i never have getaways.

I wish that Blizz would give fishing more credit.

We need some super hard zones for hardcore fishermen and we also need more variety.

It would seem I'll be doing the fishing daily until the day I die... In fact, I'll probably do it on the day I die even. So until I get the hat and all the pets I'll have an unlimited number of +100 lures lying around.

662 is a very impressive number for any skill though. You should SS that! ;-)

Same here,I only got my Toothy's Bucket the night before last, after doing Crocs in the city every time it was up since the fishing dailies were introduced (cue happy dance around room, accompanied by squealing),and I've still not had a sniff of the hat :(

Anyone wanna buy a couple of dozen stacks of fishhooks? ;)

I don't do the fishing daily in Outland. The need to make one in Northrend.

There's no point after you get your skill up to 450 - b/c the Kulalka sell 100+ lures for just a few silver (unlimited) and there's no more need for skill ups.

If it was easier to get to Outland and back to Northrend i would do them though. They need a lvl 70+ portal in Outland to Dalaran or something.

Lucky Fishing Hat works just the same.... + 5

Which vendor? All those I've seen still seem to only supply 1 or 2 at a time.

You sent your home to be Dalaran, step through the portal to Stratt, do the fishing quest then hearth back. I do it every day with my druid.

There is still value in doing the daily at 450 if you want to get any of the special drops (hat, line, pets, 2-Ring, etc.).

I do exactly the same, the only stumbling block being the Crocs in the City quest, which I do by:-
    portal Dalaran>Shatt
    pick up quest
portal Shatt>SW(or IF if I have other business there) and fish for the Baby Croc
    HS to Dalaran
    portal Dalaran>Shatt
hand in quest and cross fingers for goodies in the reward bag
Grovel in guildchat for someone in Dalaran to queue me for a BG,then /AFK out :)

  13. Gummo <The Pacifist>, 9 months ago:

For Crocs in the City, you can try to cheat by:
    Get quest by Shattrath
Queue for all BGs IN SHATTRATH; turn down BGs if any come up
Take portal to SW/Org whatever, fish
Hopefully, you catch the croc before your last BG comes up; accept the next BG and /afk out back to Shattrath
Turn in quest, no hearth used

It's probably unnecessary for me to carry my fishing gloves around, but there is something I enjoy about having my hat, gloves, and boots on while fishing. It says that I'm taking some time to relax, which is no easy thing when so much of WoW is designed to keep the player running. For the gloves, I looked around for quite a while to find a pair of plain brown gloves and finally bought woven gloves: level-5, vendor, cloth gloves.

My skinning gloves are similar, and being white-titled means they aren't even soulbound. I loaned them to another guy once so he could skin Onyxia. Of course, now with 450 skinning, I don't need them either.

    This one is easy:
Port to Shatt for the quest
Port to SW/IF and catch the croc
Take boat from SW to Northrend
    Fly back to Dalaran
Port to Shatt to turn in quest
    HS back to Dalaran.

  16. Utopia <Salty>, 8 months ago:

Another option is to use your 'Stockades HS' :)
So,portal to Shatt for the q
portal to SW and catch the croc
get someone to inv you to party
    enter Stockades
leave party, and wait for the "you are not in this party's instance" message and the resulting free HS to Dalaran (assuming your HS is set there ofc)
portal to Shatt to hand in
    HS to Dalaran
    :)

Edit for clarity (ty TheTacoMan for pointing it out :))
This does indeed reset your HS,but I'm unsure if it will reset it again if your HS is already on CD when you use Stockades.
If not,you just need to make sure your HS is already on CD before starting,so the CD will be almost over by the time you need to HS at the end.
If it does, then ofc this idea won't work unless you fancy spending an hour in Shatt ;)

  17. TheTacoMan <Salty>, 8 months ago:

Utopia, that wont work - using a 'Ghetto Hearth' resets the cooldown on your hearthstone.

The way you could make it work is:
    Dalaran portal to Shattarah
    Shattarah portal to Org/SW,
    Use Hearthstone to Dalaran
    Dalaran portal to Shattarah
    Shattarah portal to Org/SW
And THEN use Stockades/RFC to 'Ghetto Hearth' back to Dalaran

  18. Balazar <Moderator>, 8 months ago:

Also, my understanding is that the "Ghetto Hearth" is being fixed (removed) in 3.1. At the same time, I hear that the basic hearthstone cooldown may get reduced (to 30 min.).

Yes the Blues have confimed the HS change on the official forums.
Apparently the BG queueing will also be changed,so that will most likely be the end of getting a guildy to join as group from Dalaran for the /afk out ghetto HS too.
